46 n NEW PRODUCTS June 2026 www.drivesncontrols.com At the recent Hannover Messe, Harting showed a series of plastic circular connectors aimed at decentralised control systems and asynchronous motors where frequency control is not needed. They eliminate the need for complex EMC shielding using metal housings and can connect multiple low-power devices in a daisy-chain configuration. Harting says that the size 15 connectors (which comply with IEC 61076-2-115) are the first to bridge the gap between highperformance, but heavy, M23 metal connectors, and compact M12 connectors. There are two configurations: 630V/16A with three power contacts, earth conductor and two signal contacts; and 48V/20A with two power contacts, earth conductor and three signal contacts. They can power a single asynchronous motor up to 7.5kW or, when daisy-chained, can carry up to 16kW. Bayonet locks enable quick, vibration-resistant connections. Harting www.harting.com/en-GB Colour camera reads print marks at up to 500m/min Kollmorgen has added hygienic and washdown servodrives to its “value-driven” Essentials family launched last year, offering simplicity and flexibility for fast commissioning and reliable performance. Kollmorgen’s AKMA aluminium washdown motors and AKMH stainless-steel hygienic servomotors are now available with SFD-M (Smart Feedback Device, Multi-Turn) feedback, allowing them to support absolute multi-turn positioning. Machine-builders can now achieve high-performance motion in demanding applications, without the costs typically associated with washdown and hygienic servo systems. SFD-M offers high-resolution absolute feedback without the costs and maintenance of battery-backed encoders. It uses an energy-harvesting technology to store position information, while embedded motor data enables automatic drive configuration and rapid commissioning with any Kollmorgen servodrive. The Essentials drives support protocols including EtherCat, EtherNet/IP and Profinet, providing broad connectivity while reducing system and inventory complexity. The AKMA motors have anodised aluminium housings with IP69K protection for medium-to-heavy washdown applications. The stainless-steel AKMH motors have IP69K sealing for daily washdowns involving high pressures and temperatures, and caustic cleaning agents. Kollmorgen www.kollmorgen.com/en-us ABB’s Machine Automation division has introduced a highspeed colour camera for precise print mark detection. Designed to balance colour accuracy with high-speed processing, the B&R Color Camera delivers reliable results at production line speeds of up to 500m/min. By allowing immediate, visionbased process corrections at high line speeds, the camera helps to cut material wastage and costs. It provides real-time feedback, contributing to higher OEE (overall equipment effectiveness), while also supporting sustainable printing. When print marks cannot be detected consistently, scrap and material waste increase, impacting margins. The camera supports both mono and colour applications, simplifying machine designs and enabling easy scaling to colour applications. The one-platform approach accelerates engineering and commissioning. An autoexposure function adapts exposure times and contrast, keeping printing processes running without manual tuning stops, and helps to avoid scrap by adjusting continuously to changing materials and print designs. Unlike vision sensors that communicate asynchronously with machine controllers, the new camera integrates vision, motion and control on a deterministic platform that avoids latency, jitter and synchronisation issues. It enables microsecond-level synchronisation and real-time, in-cycle corrections. B&R Automation www.br-automation.com Size 15 plastic circular connectors target decentralised controls and asynchronous motors Tolomatic has extended its electric linear actuators to handle applications previously possible only with hydraulics. Its new RSX50 can deliver 445kN, with a maximum stroke length of 630mm at up to 432mm/s. The actuator has a 836kN dynamic load rating, while a planetary rollerscrew option can achieve an accuracy of ±0.023mm over a 300mm stroke. An oil-cooled option can deliver up to two times the speed and thrust capacity of grease-coated designs. Options include inline motor mounting, and a reverse-parallel configuration that mounts the motor next to the actuator, reducing its length. Optional 4:1 or 6:1 geared motors can eliminate external gearboxes. The .actuators are available in the UK from Inmoco. www.inmoco.co.uk ifm has doubled the range of its laser-based OGD time-offlight distance sensors, offering millimetre precision over distances of up to 4m. Its new OGD540 model also introduces an“ultimate black” mode which allows the sensors to detect challenging items, including highly reflective and jet-black objects. The sensors are available in robust plastic or heavy-duty stainless-steel housings, and have a two-colour display that shows the measurement status via a red-green colour change. Operators can configure the sensors using on-device buttons or remotely via IO-Link. www.ifm.com/gb/en Cost-effective servos handle washdown and hygienic applications
