METREL, manufacturer of innovative test solutions, says the measuring of R1+R2, R1+RN, r1, rn and r2 has just become quicker and easier with the release of its new Ring Continuity Adapter, A 2214, and associated firmware updates. The adapter, A 2214, and its test leads, can be quickly nulled and clipped to the circuit conductors and connected to one of a range of Metrel multi- function testers. The test starts with the press of a button and r1, r2, and rn are measured in one go. The tester and its plugged test lead are then moved round the ring-under-test’s sockets. The results are stored and the highest reading displayed. As the tester communicates with the adapter through the circuit conductors to vary the configuration meaning that all the measurement are completed in one hit. t: 01924 245000 e: brendan.beaver@metrel.co.uk w: www.metrel.co.uk WILLIAM HUGHES says it has become an authority in the supply of welded wire assemblies, primarily for the automotive industry. The company says its expertise in MIG, MAG, TIG, spot/resistance and Butt welding processes has led to it establishing a total of 33 welding cells across its three factories in the UK, Poland and Bulgaria. In the UK, William Hughes says it is the only supplier of large volume automotive welded assemblies, a skill it has spent the last twenty years perfecting, still trading. William Hughes has always been a large volume producer of wires, springs and small welded assemblies for the automotive industry. Twenty years ago, welding was carried out manually or by simple semi-automated machines but Engineering Director Emma Burgon had the foresight to focus on acquiring a contract for 100% rear seat welded assemblies. The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) has given product development engineer Dr Chris Dyson and his colleagues the Walter D. Hodson Award. The award was given for the paper “Representative Tribometer Testing of Wire Rope Fretting Contacts: The Effect of Lubrication on Fretting Wear. This project was one output from several years of collaborative research on wire rope tribology between ROCOL, The School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Leeds, and the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics at the University of Bradford. t: 0113 232 2700 e: customer.services@rocol.com w: www.rocol.com Wire rope lubrication research rewarded Maintenance Matters July/August 2022 www.pwemag.co.uk Plant & Works Engineering | 17 Welded to success Carl Kammerling International (CKI), the home of C.K Tools, is offering the industrial supply channel* a summer of discounts, incentives and more than 400 products on offer, as part of its 2022 Industrial Highlight promotion. It is available to download from Brammer Buck & Hickman’s SKF bearings section on its website: uk.rubix.com/supplier/skf Individual bearings may use relatively little energy, but are in such widespread use and are also one of the most frequently replaced components, that building sustainability in to the product and their usage matters. The new Brammer Buck & Hickman ‘Committed to Sustainability’ brochure provides customers with a guide to getting the most out of their bearings whilst having the least impact on the environment by applying the 3Rs waste hierarchy - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. w: uk.rubix.com/supplier/skf Industrial Highlight promotion Sustainability in bearings brochure Working in partnership with VEOLIA WATER TECHNOLOGIES UK (VWT UK), KP Snacks has announced it has successfully implemented a standardised approach to water treatment, management and compliance across its seven manufacturing sites. A significant achievement, this has helped to simplify many complex processes and allowed the sharing of solutions and best practice across the group. KP Snacks, the manufacturer of familiar snack brands has worked with Biochemica, now part of VWT UK, since 2014. VWT provides a wide range of water treatment services to KP Snacks including boiler water and effluent treatment chemicals, legionella control and risk assessment, water system cleaning and disinfection as well as water hygiene inspections. VWT has been working with KP Snacks to standardise its processes and service delivery across each of the seven KP sites across the country. w: www.veoliawatertechnologies.co.uk Standardised approach to water treatment Relieving the fiddle of ring continuity testing accessories
