across sites, and then each team can also a d d their awn tasks locally." Centralised engineering information allows North Air ta share solutions and best practice across its entire company, ta salve technical issues as quickly as possible. "Far example, if there's been a breakdown an a truck in Manchester and the team there have never seen it before. W e can g o into ShireSystem and see if a similar problem has occurred at another site before," Shell notes. " W e can see the full maintenance history far every piece of equipment in the business in one place. ShireSystem is a really great resource far firefighting problems. Can you imagine trying ta compile that sort o f informationthrough a manual system?" ShireSystem also allows North Air ta stay up ta date with regular maintenance requirements far its engineering equipment - flexibly managing upcoming checks and procedures. Far example, during the Cavid-19 pandemic, mast airlines were running a reduced service, so the company parked up many o f its vehicles. During this time, Shell's team paused related maintenance checks in ShireSystem so they wouldn't show as overdue, and then rebooted them ta create a full compliance checklist before putting trucks back into service. Precision engineering without the paperwork burden As well as delivering strategic value, ShireSystem is helping North Air ta build responsive relationships with its network of 2 5 0 staff, without creating a huge administrative workload. Previously, mast of the company's managed sites were tracking work orders an a whiteboard, which wasn't shared with head office personnel. Now, requirements are lagged through ShireSystem's Wa r k Requester feature, which engineers can consult as they go. "Our maintenance people want ta b e fixing stuff. They don't want ta b e in front of the computer," Shell recognises. "They find ShireSystem a really user-friendly piece of software; once they've cleaned up at the end o f the day, they just set aside 15 minutes ta close all their work orders, and everyone in the business can see exactly what's been done. I: ShireSystem "Making maintenance information mare visible allows our engineers ta work independently - we'll only pick up the phone if w e can see something is outstanding." In addition ta keeping colleagues up ta date with completed tasks, ShireSystem also helps North Air's technicians ta document their approach and methodology. "Our mast experienced engineers have a little black book of knowledge in their heads, but until w e started using ShireSystem, that knowledge wasn't recorded anywhere that others could access," Shell explains. "These engineers may think about retiring in the next couple of years, so we're building a catalogue of information that the future generation can use." Going mobile to grow services Focusing an the future is critical ta North Air's success. The company recently wan a large general aviation contractta carry out fuelling maintenance work at small airports, RAF bases and flight schools across the UK. Ta support its engineers with servicing general aviation customers, North Air invested in ShireSystem's Mobile Pro C A F M / C M M S opp, which enables teams ta manage and maintain assets and resources an the go. "Our mobile engineers are travelling ta different sites each d a y - sometimes two - and they don't have time ta file paperwork as they go," Shell shares. "Previously, they may have only had one or two admin days each month, and they had ta g o back and complete every work order from the past two weeks. "With Mobile Pro, our engineers can pick up their phone and provide feedback an tasks in real time. It cuts dawn the time they spend an admin." Creating closer customer relationships O n the subject o f feedback, ShireSystem is strengthening North Air's communications across teams, ta enhance working processes. An essential part o f its success ta date has been training North Air's Maintenance Co- ordinator as a 'super user', w h o helps each site ta set up the software in a w a y that works best with their business needs. North Air has also established a number o f key performance indicators (KPls), which quantify maintenance output across each site Register for our next webinar on 28th October at 11 am here: Advertorial and the business as a whale. "ShireSystem gives the whale company visibility o f h aw well the maintenance team is doing," Shell observes. "I'm not just telling people h aw great w e are; I can really prove it." It's not just internal relationships that North Air is managing closely, either. Strang customer partnerships are pivotal ta the company's success, and ShireSystem is empowering North Air ta increase transparency and demonstrate return an investment (ROI). "Wh e n customers ask far maintenance records or details, it's easy ta lag into ShireSystem and download what w e need," Shell adds. "If w e were still working under the aid paper-based system this would b e a much mare time-consuming task. And w e can easily tailor the information they want ta receive." Ta further provevalue far money, North Air recently invested in ShireSystem's Casts and Charges module, which links work orders ta each customer's account. This way, they can see exactly what maintenance jabs the company is completing far them each month, and the casts incurred. Data then integrates with North Air's accounting software, far easy invoicing. "The Casts and Charges feature gives our customers greater visibility into what we're spending our time an and h aw much each activity casts," Shell says. "They can see exactly haw long it took ta d o something, rather than querying wh y their bill is far a certain amount." Taking flight for the future Aviation is an industry in perpetual movement, so it makes sense that North Air is continually looking far new ways ta drive business value and progress at full flight. In addition ta rolling out Mobile Pro and Cast and Charges, the company is considering the business case far ShireSystem's Wallbaard feature, which shares outstanding maintenance work with teams visually, in real time, via a digital dashboard. "ShireSystem is really great," Shell concludes. "It ticks all the boxes far a facilities management system." ShireSystem empowers companies ta meet compliance and safety gaols, extend asset life, cut casts, and increase productivity.
