Buyers Guide 2021
Providing the right vision sensor for robotic applications which provide maximum functional and operational flexibility combined with easy process integration has become an increasingly important focus for sensing and instrumentation specialists BAUMER. Its expertise in this area of making robots ‘see’ has recently been acknowledged by the jury of the 2021 ‘Inspect Awards’ which every year honours the most innovative products in the field of industrial image processing. Out of the 9 finalist products Baumer VeriSens XF/XC900 vision sensors were awarded first place in the ‘Vision’ category. Among the important features of VeriSens sensors it was the intelligent calibration target SmartGrid (patent pending) innovation with its Chessboard application of the bit pattern, which proved pivotal in its success in the awards. t | 01793 783839 e | sales.uk@baumer.com w | www.baumer.com/gb/en/c/42216 A leading engineering solutions provider has been announced as a preferred supplier to IESA in a deal that could be worth up to £1m per year. DERITEND GROUP, which recently completed a major relocation project to larger facilities in West Bromwich, has completed the quality assurance exercise required to be listed in the Motor and Gearbox category. This means the firm will now be part of the global outsourcing specialist’s central list of suppliers that companies like Astra Zeneca, Bentley, 2 Sisters Food Group, Michelin and Molson Coors use for their maintenance, repair and operational (MRO) requirements. It is the result of a year-long discussion, a number of assessments and the creation of a specialist team to respond to enquiries within 24 hours and provide immediate technical support and access to industry- leading equipment and solutions. Richard Hale, CEO of Deritend Group, commented: “This is a big moment for our business and one that will hopefully lead to lots of new opportunities for us across multiple sectors. “It’s a really good fit as IESA is looking to offer more than just products and want suppliers who can deliver solutions, something we are experts in. Our experience in motors, gearboxes and pumps is second to none and we have a team of engineers ready to meet emergency repair requirements and provide advice on getting the most out of these vital pieces of equipment.” He continued: “We estimate that it will be worth £1m in our first year and comes on the back of a very busy period for us, with the relocation of our Midlands operation to West Bromwich underway and a number of new framework contracts secured.” Deritend is firmly established as one of the UK’s leading providers of engineering solutions, including the repair or replacement of electric motors pumps, gearboxes, electronic controls and induction equipment. w | www.deritend.co.uk SCOPE is an all-new, PLC-based boiler sequencing control system from FULTON. The company says it is suitable for up to four steam boilers and optimises installations, ensures energy efficient operation and improves boiler longevity. It can be retrofitted to existing vertical and horizontal fuel-fired boiler installations, including Fulton’s own range of existing and planned products and those manufactured by other boiler OEMs. Fulton says by using SCOPE’s intelligent sequencing to provide redundancy and reliability, significant savings can be made by automating start-up and shut-down procedures, controlling and optimising main steam header pressure or temperature, ensuring steam supply is controlled precisely and load-balanced across the boilers, thus eliminating extensive losses from repeated start/stop cycling of burners. At launch, SCOPE features a high-definition touch screen for system programming and displaying boiler status. t | 0117 972 3322 e | sales@fulton.co.uk w | www.fulton.co.uk Intelligent sequencing system BUNTING says the design objective of creating a more compact and powerful electromagnetic Overband Magnet led its engineering team to develop the new ElectroMax-Plus. Bunting is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of magnetic separators, eddy current separators and electrostatic separators for the recycling and waste industries. The new ElectroMax-Plus operates at a 600mm suspension height (the distance between the conveyor belt and the face of the Overband Magnet), up from 450mm on a standard ElectroMax. At a suspension height of 500mm, the ElectroMax-Plus is over 105% stronger (in terms of Force Index) that the equivalent ElectroMax. This additional magnetic force removes small tramp ferrous metal commonly missed by permanent Overband Magnets. t | 01442 875081 e | press@buntingeurope.com w | www.mastermagnets.com New stronger overband magnet Vision sensors win top award £1m revenue boost after signing partnership UE SYSTEMS discusses best practices for ultrasonic compressed air leak detection: Contrary to what some might think, compressed air is not free. In fact, for what it takes to produce it, to what is generated it is often considered the most expensive utility in a typical manufacturing facility. Air Compressor experts have also estimated that as much as 30% of the compressed air generated is lost via leaks in the compressed air system. Often, when a compressed air system struggles to meet the current demands on the system, spare compressors are rented and used as back-ups or time and effort is placed in installing an additional compressor to the existing system. Both strategies are expensive, and depending on the size of the compressors needed, could mean hundreds of thousands of dollars.
