updates from 36 HYDRAULICS & PNEUMATICS February 2026 www.hpmag.co.uk Wendy Hayward will be responsible for leading the Board over the next two years and will focus on inclusivity across the industry, as well as upholding the standards of quality and compliance that end-users expect from a BCAS member. She takes over the role from Immediate Past President, Steven Rohan, Integration and Operations Manager, Bioscience Filtration from Parker Hannifin. Wendy commented: “I extend my thanks to the outgoing President, Steven Rohan. His leadership, commitment to inclusion and drive to elevate training and standards over the past two years has set a strong benchmark for the future growth of the Society. “I am proud to carry this work forward, particularly in the area of diversity. From our manufacturer members to our distributors, the compressed air industry is made up of a wealth of different talents. As the Society’s first female President, I am proud to acknowledge that these talents are celebrated and that the Society continues to work hard to represent members’ views through its various committees and working groups.” A key area of focus during Wendy’s tenure will be to drive quality standards in the industry further still. End-users can continue to rely on their BCAS member to ensure that they comply with the latest compressed air regulations and to purchase quality, certified compressed air equipment. However, Wendy will look to increase participation from members in important areas of compliance and legislation, ensuring that the industry is working together to achieve the best BCAS appoints its 60th President outcomes for customers: whether that is improved quality, more agile support or improved equipment performance. Wendy continued: “When BCAS members work together, we can share the challenges that our customers face to help solve some of the common problems in the industry today. For example, the complex area of standards and legislation can be difficult for a customer to navigate alone. Using the strength and breadth of the BCAS member network’s shared knowledge, we can provide practical, real-world solutions.” Ashley Quartermann, BCAS Executive Director concluded: “Wendy has been an invaluable support to Steven and the board during her two years as Vice President and we are delighted to see her take up her role as President. The Society has been working hard to ensure balanced representation from across our membership, so it is encouraging to have one of our distribution members now heading up the board. “This ensures we continue to support all our stakeholders on the issues that matter most to their businesses - whether it’s lobbying for changes in legislation, providing guidance on energy reduction or delivering technical training.” For further information about the British Compressed Air Society, please visit www.bcas.org.uk The British Compressed Air Society (BCAS) has appointed Wendy Hayward, Managing Director of Aircare Compressor Services Limited, as its 60th president. Training update BCAS is continuing to adapt its training offer to ensure that courses not only remain technically relevant in a changing industrial workplace but provide meaningful support for engineers keen to improve their skills and competence. Last year, the Society joined The Society of Operations Engineers (SOE). By partnering with SOE, BCAS training courses will now benefit from formal accreditation, helping to boost the credibility of BCAS training and provide recognised pathways for engineers to progress professionally. As part of the partnership, professionals completing eligible BCAS training programmes will be able to achieve the EngTech postnominal recognition from SOE, validating their technical competence and commitment to continued learning. This joint initiative will further reinforce the value of skills development and professional recognition in the engineering community. Other recent accomplishments for BCAS include the development of a specific Level 3 NVQ tailored for the engineering industry, which has been recognised for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
