Domin awarded Innovate UK funding to advance servo valve production and digital manufacturing Domin has been awarded funding by Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation—the UK’s innovation agency—to support an initiative aimed at boosting the country’s advanced manufacturing capabilities. The project, titled POLARIS (Production Optimisation & Large-Scale Data Analysis for Robust Industrial Systems), marks another key step in Domin’s journey to scale up its manufacturing operations and reinforces its commitment to growth and innovation. Building on earlier Innovate UKsupported initiatives, POLARIS will enhance the digitisation and optimisation of Domin’s production environment. As demand for the company’s highperformance, high-speed servo valves continues to grow, the project will support efforts to scale production without compromising on quality or precision. Domin has been granted £643,948 to drive progress across several fronts, including investment in new equipment, expansion of its engineering team, and the deployment of advanced digital manufacturing systems. Nick Thomas, Senior Software Engineer and Project Manager at Domin, said: “This project is about accelerating what we already planned to do—bringing new levels of intelligence and automation into our manufacturing processes. With POLARIS, we’re not only increasing capacity, we’re future-proofing our operations to support growth. It’s an exciting opportunity to strengthen our capability while collaborating with great partners like the University of Bath.” As part of the initiative, the University of Bath will co-develop an Additive Manufacturing (AM) skills pilot programme with Domin. The programme will help equip future engineers with the expertise needed to deliver advanced, sustainable manufacturing in the UK.
