COMPRESSED AIR, VACUUM, AND GENERATORS ROTAIR’s MDVN52 Eco5 portable air compressor combines lightweight design and high performance, weighing less than 750 kg and delivering airflow of up to 5200 l/min at 7 bar. Its transportability is enhanced by the fact that it can be towed with a standard B category driving license, opening its use to a broader range of users. The MDVN52 Eco5 is the result of ROTAIR SPA’s ongoing focus on improving efficiency and functionality in its range of portable compressors. With over 60 years of experience, ROTAIR, part of ELGi, has designed this model to address modern requirements for greater maneuverability and reduced weight without sacrificing power. The compressor is equipped with a 42kW Hatz Stage V diesel engine capable of reaching up to 2300 RPM, supported by a pneumatic control system that automatically adjusts engine speed to match air delivery needs, helping to conserve fuel. Built for demanding environments, the MDVN52 Eco5 operates in temperatures ranging from -10°C to +55°C. Its compressed air output varies between ambient +8°C (with an optional onboard aftercooler) and +40°C as standard, making it suitable for diverse applications. The unit’s design incorporates several features to ensure durability and performance. The electrogalvanized bodywork and chassis are treated with advanced corrosion protection techniques, while an oversized separator filter provides effective air/oil separation, contributing to cleaner operation. The air intake system benefits from a single stage oversized filter, and the cooling system integrates a combined radiator that handles both compressor oil and engine coolant. Additionally, an intelligent start/stop mechanism reduces the risk of operational errors during specific functions. Optional enhancements can further improve the unit’s efficiency. A line lubricator is available to provide automatic lubrication for pneumatic tools, preventing wear and corrosion and ensuring smoother operation. A clogging sensor for the engine air filter helps maintain optimal air supply, ensuring consistent performance and protecting the diesel engine. The MDVN52 Eco5’s lightweight design and compact size make it especially useful in situations where transportability and efficiency are critical. At under 750 kg, the unit meets a key threshold for ease of towing, which is particularly advantageous in rental markets where high utilisation rates are a priority. ROTAIR’s MDVN series has been recognised for its innovative contributions to the field of portable compressors. In 2023, the MDVN34E and MDVN32B models were awarded the SaMoTer Innovation Award, highlighting their operational flexibility, sustainable design, and ability to address practical challenges on construction sites. Since its establishment in 1961 in Piemonte, Italy, ROTAIR SPA has focused on creating adaptable and reliable compressed air solutions. Its portfolio includes portable air compressors, hydraulic breakers, and the Rampicar series of tracked mini dumpers, reflecting a longstanding commitment to meeting the needs of diverse industries.
