Dr Hunter, an experienced academic, will bring expert scientific oversight to the ATEX team, focusing on quality control and training. The author of numerous research publications, Dr Hunter says her brief is to ensure that the business is performing to the highest possible quality standards using advanced traceability, and analytical techniques to monitor performance. “While I am a nutritionist by trade, the core principles of my scientific research background are translatable across many disciplines,” said Dr Hunter. “ATEX is at the cutting-edge of fluid cleanliness, and it will be my job to ensure we maintain this competitive advantage by reinforcing our already stringent quality controls. “Our customers know they can count on ATEX and a key element of this is our calibration expertise. This is something that I will be heavily involved in – making sure that all our equipment meets the exacting standards required by a range of customers.” Dr Hunter joins a three-strong management team at ATEX comprising Technical Director and company founder Wayne Hubball and Engineering Director Peter Remmert. “We’re delighted to welcome Kirsty Hunter to the company”, said Wayne Hubball. This will be critical going forward as we develop new markets with our range of explosion-proof particle counters for use in hazardous environments.” Global warehouse robotics provider Exotec has announced the appointment of Ada Ajoku as Head of UK Projects, and Bassem Awada as VP of Business Development. The company says these new appointments will help further drive the company’s growth in the UK, following the recent deployment of Exotec’s Skypod system with its latest UK customer, Alliance Automotive Group UK (AAG), in its newly established major Sheffield warehouse. Ada Ajoku joins Exotec with over 15 years of experience in the automation industry, most notably at Dematic. Based in the UK, Ada graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in electronic and communications engineering, before furthering her studies and obtaining a master’s degree in project management at the University of Warwick. Throughout her nine-year tenure at Dematic, she progressed from Project Manager to Director of EMEA, where she led a team of 150 employees and was responsible for client modernisation and upgrade requirements. In her new role at Exotec, Ada will oversee the company’s entire UK project portfolio, partnering with stakeholders on the creation and execution of project plans. Bringing three decades of experience to the role from the world of motorsport, Rice will lead and develop Phoenix Fluid Power’s manufacturing team – the same talented group behind Phoenix Marine’s hydraulic systems and bespoke mechanisms for the world’s leading yacht builders. Commenting on the announcement, Rice commented: “I’m really looking forward to getting involved with developing the great people, processes and systems here at Phoenix. I enjoy a challenge and believe my background with Formula One will help in identifying opportunities to support future business growth and improvements.” The latest recruit has spent nearly 30 years working at the pinnacle of automotive manufacturing, including roles with Ilmor Engineering, McLaren Automotive and Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains. This saw him working on numerous engine projects which powered Mika Häkkinen to back-to-back Formula One Drivers’ Championships in 1998 and 1999, before projects which have supported championship winning drives from Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. More recently, he has been involved with supercar and hypercar engines, including the McLaren Senna, Speedtail and Artura V6 Hybrid.
