www.hpmag.co.uk HYDRAULICS & PNEUMATICS April/May 2024 37 For fluid power solutions, accessibility to versatile tools and comprehensive data is crucial for efficient system specification and application. Recognising this need, Gates, the provider of applicationspecific fluid power and power transmission solutions, has developed a range of online and mobile resources to support users in optimising its hydraulic applications. These resources encompass various functionalities, from specifying and selecting hoses and couplings to obtaining precise crimping data necessary for producing high-quality hose assemblies. Recent enhancements to these tools aim to facilitate faster, more precise, and mobile-friendly workflows. At the core of Gates’ offerings is the Knowledge Centre, serving as a repository of valuable information. Here, users can explore Gates’ wide product range through user-friendly catalogues such as Gates Hose & Couplings and Gates Tube Fittings. These publications provide detailed product information along with supplementary resources like the Chemical Resistance Table and product selection guidance. For those actively involved in developing hydraulic applications, Gates offers download portals such as Gates DesignConnect and Gates Cadenas. These portals provide technical information, part numbers, specifications, and access to modeling programs and CAD functions. Ensuring the proper crimping of hydraulic hose assemblies is essential for safety and performance. Gates addresses this need with the enhanced Gates eCrimp Database, offering an intuitive redesign and additional features. Users can save searches, manage crimp spec sheets, and download them as needed. This database seamlessly integrates with the Gates eCrimp Mobile app, providing offline access to assembly specs, even in remote locations. Whether in the office, on-site, or on the move, Gates say its suite of online and mobile tools offer comprehensive support for fluid power system design, specification, and application. The Gates Knowledge Centre serves as a valuable resource, providing industry-leading expertise to empower users and drive progress in the field of fluid power solutions. Measuring flow, pressure and temperature, the DHT has a built-in loading valve to simulate load. This rugged tool - a workhorse of the hydraulic testing arena - features a number of key improvements to enhance both its robustness and ease-ofuse when checking the performance of hydraulic pumps, motors, valves and hydrostatic transmissions. By investing in the newgeneration Webtec DHT, industry professionals will be able to check hydraulic system performance, pinpoint faults and reduce downtime in a range of applications, including excavators and attachments, tractors and other farm machinery, cranes, crushing and screening systems, military vehicles, and municipal vehicles. The company says it has listened carefully to the requirements of its end users, distributors, sales and manufacturing teams when developing the specification for the third generation DHT. Webtec is seeing demand for its DHTseries portable testers rise from users operating in extremely dusty and wet environments. As an electronic instrument, the company therefore set about upgrading the unit’s protection rating to IP65. IP65 provides the highest level of dust protection, while also offering the ability to withstand low-pressure jets of water from all directions. Electronics, sensitive components and internal wiring therefore remain fully protected even in the most challenging of operating conditions. Further enhancements to the latest Webtec DHT focus on display functionality. The display area is almost three times larger than the previous-generation model, presenting easier-toread flow digits. In addition, users can select their preferred engineering units via convenient panel buttons. Additional improvements include the introduction of: a battery power gauge (low power consumption means the DHT provides 230 hours of continuous use per 9V battery); a service interval reminder; internal temperature monitoring for sensitive components; and an operational limit warning (LED) when measuring high temperature fluids up to 120°C. Notably, as on all Webtec testers, an integral loading valve gives progressive pressure loading in either flow direction. Webtec’s Interpass safety protection system using replaceable safety discs operates if the maximum pressure is exceeded, ensuring flow is relieved internally back to the return line. Six standard DHT models are available from 300 to 800 l/min maximum flow rate and 420/480 bar maximum pressure with BSP and SAE porting. Webtec is able to meet custom specifications upon request in line with the company’s innovative Make it BLUE manufacturing process that helps customers maximise the potential of their hydraulic machinery without the complexity or cost of consultancy. Webtec developed Make it BLUE following extensive discussions with customers, who now benefit from a more integrated approach to product customisation.
