UPDATES BFPA appoints Chris Butcher as Managing Director 44 HYDRAULICS & PNEUMATICS November/December 2022 www.hpmag.co.uk Hayley Fluid Power latest member approved to deliver the BFPA Minimum Educational Recommendations (MER) for Pneumatics Hayley Fluid Power is the latest BFPA member to join an expanding list of BFPA approved training providers across the country able to deliver training courses which meet the BFPA Minimum Educational Recommendations for hydraulics/pneumatics. John Jones, Manager of Hayley Fluid Power, comments: “Obtaining the BFPA approval to provide pneumatics training is a huge testament to the dedication and technical capabilities of the team here at Hayley Fluid Power. Not only do we work with world-class supply partners, but we can also now provide industry-leading BFPA-certified courses to the wider UK industry.” The following companies have also had hydraulics and pneumatics training courses approved to meet the BFPA Minimum Educational Recommendations: JCB Training Academy, National Fluid Power Centre, National Oilwell Varco Training Centre, Pirtek National Training Centre, Sanders Hydraulics Limited, SMC Pneumatics (UK) Ltd and Sparrows Offshore Services Ltd. For more information on the BFPA please visit www.bfpa.co.uk or call 01608 647900. The British Fluid Power Association (BFPA) has appointed Christopher (Chris) Butcher as Managing Director. Chris joins the BFPA from Coventry-based Woodway Engineering Limited, where he was Managing Director, and brings with him over 25 years of experience in the fluid power industry, both in engineering and commercial business development. Chris’s career began at British Steel in Teesside where, after completing an engineering apprenticeship, he spent 7 years as a hydraulics engineer, gaining valuable hands-on experience of the fluid power industry. He subsequently moved into hydraulic sales with Quick Hydraulics. Following this, Chris gained experience over several years, which led him to progress to a variety of senior roles within the fluid power industry with Haldex AB and Concentric AB, most recently as Vice President. Throughout his career, Chris has been involved in many aspects of manufacturing, engineering and commercial processes, predominantly heading business development and engineering teams through Europe and Asia. From designing and developing to production and selling, Chris has worked across B2B and B2C environments with customers including many of the world’s leading OEMs such as Scania, Volvo, CAT, Mercedes, Komatsu and JCB. He comments: “I would like to thank John Farmer (BFPA President) and Rebecca Galley (BFPA Vice President) for giving me the opportunity to join the BFPA and move back into the fluid power sector. “This industry impacts our everyday life and is overflowing with engineering excellence, world-leading technology and 1000s of talented people.
