We are already in a world of increasing digitalisation where our factories and machines are smart and intelligent and rely not only on the drive and transmission elements but also on the ability to gather and use data for enhancement, reliability and performance. With this backdrop of digitalisation, modern fluid power systems will adapt and deliver with the pre-requisite also of safety, efficiency and environmental demands. Today fluid power is an important sector for UK Industry with a large percentage of industrial production and off-road vehicles being at least in part dependent on fluid power to create motion. With the advantages of pneumatics and hydraulics in terms of power to weight ratio and the continuous variability of control as well as flexible application, modern fluid power technology will still, undoubtedly feature as an important driver of future industry. As you walk around the show you will see examples of how modern fluid power will be connected, smart and flexible as well as providing safe and environmentally compatible means of providing motion for the machinery and for the factories of the future. In the context of this exciting future of Fluid Power the British Fluid Power Association (BFPA) is proud to be part of this important event for Fluid Power and Systems. I wish for all of you attending a fruitful and rewarding experience as you discuss and engage with the talented exhibitors and please don’t forget the Talking Industry Live and Knowledge Hub seminar theatres where experts from industry are presenting and you will get opportunity to ask questions and enter into interesting debate. Paul Cooke, Interim CEO, The British Fluid Power Association (BFPA)
