HYDRAULICS 32 HYDRAULICS & PNEUMATICS July/August 2021 www.hpmag.co.uk Uniflex hose cutting machines make clean cuts – but the generation of dust, fumes and odours cannot be avoided. Therefore, Uniflex has developed the UVC 100, an external suction and filter device for simultaneous use with up to three cutting machines. A balanced compromise between volume flow and negative pressure keeps the air clean during the cutting of hose assemblies and protects the operators from fine particles. After all, health at the workplace should always have top priority. Two-year manufacturer’s warranty The multi-step exhaust air purification runs with a spark stop function, cyclone filter technology for the pre-separation of coarse particles, HEPA filter for dust, particle filter for fine particles and carbon filter for odour neutralisation – and all that with two full years of Uniflex manufacturer’s warranty (except wear parts like filters, etc.). The wheel-equipped devices with a basic footprint of 90 x 90 cm are 206 cm in height and weigh approximately 500 kg – including a 12-litre dust collection container. With a maximum volume flow of 1440 m3/h and a high negative pressure of up to 4600 Pa, the Uniflex UVC 100 has an easy-to-clean, easy-to- exchange main filter surface of 10 m2. Based on an intake voltage of 400V, the device offers 3.0 KW of drive power. The Uniflex UVC 100 can also be connected to other suitable machines that require high- performance suction. Suitable devices have an intake diameter of 100-160 mm. The suction and filter performance increases with the size of the diameter. As with all devices and machines from Uniflex, the manufacturer grants a two-year manufacturer`s warranty on the Uniflex UVC 100, excluding wear parts, such as filters, etc. as well as any damage caused by improper use or faulty connection to devices/cutters from other manufacturers. www.uniflex.de Odour-neutralising air cleaner – for better health at the workplace When fluids handling applications require safe and reliable pumping of thin, low viscosity liquids, such as liquefied gases or refrigerants the new Dickow WPM Series are claimed to be an ideal choice. Available from pump specialist Michael Smith Engineers, these new options of self-priming, horizontal, side-channel pumps are suitable for handling clean liquids without solids in chemical and petrochemical industry applications. The magnet drive single or multi-stage side channel design of the WPM Series pump enables safe, leak-free pumping of thin liquids at 4 pole speeds of high differential heads up to 150 metres covering flow rates from around 2 lit/min up to 40 lit/min. Compared to standard centrifugal pumps they offer more economical pumping when the combination of low capacities and high heads is required. They are available in 316 stainless steel or Hastelloy-C materials and in two designs. One for system pressures to 16 bar the other for system pressures up to 110 bar, an ideal option for pumping liquefied gases or refrigerants. Maximum operating temperature for the standard pump design is 150degC. Closed hermetically sealed leak-free system They are also able to prime empty suction lines after initial filling with liquid to be pumped or any other liquid compatible with the pumped liquid. The magnet coupling with the static containment shell forms a closed hermetically sealed leak-free system which eliminates the need for double mechanical seals, along with external fluid reservoirs and associated control equipment. The single elements of the multipolar magnet coupling are manufactured from Neodymium-Iron-Boron with unlimited lifetime operation, while the magnets in the driven rotor are completely encapsulated and not in contact with the pumped liquid. Power is transmitted to the hermetically sealed liquid end by a bank of external magnets with the inner and outer magnet rings securely locked together by the magnetic forces and work as a synchronous coupling. To achieve the self-priming capability, high efficiency and rated differential pressure, there are tight clearances between the rotating impeller and the stationary disks. During priming, a stable fluid film between the impellers and the disks centres the impeller in the chamber. When coupled with suitable flameproof certified motors, the Dickow WPM side channel pumps can also be specified for pumping flammable liquids and be safely installed in hazardous areas. www.michael-smith-engineers.co.uk Leak-free pumping
