The Optidrive E4 is Invertek Drives latest general purpose variable frequency drive (VFD), engineered to meet the requirements of modern automation systems. Building on the global success of the Optidrive E3, the E4 delivers enhanced diagnostics, improved connectivity and advanced motor control, while retaining Invertek's renowned ease of use. Rhydian Welson, Sales & Marketing Director at Invertek Drives explains: ‘’The E4 platform provides a strengthened technical foundation for future development and wider application coverage. It has been designed to support the evolving needs of OEMs, machine builders and industrial users who require efficient, flexible and reliable motor control solutions. As automation systems become more advanced, customers demand greater functionality, easier integration, and improved performance.’’ The Optidrive E4 features embedded diagnostics, built-in flight recorder, dualchannel SIL3 Safe Torque Off (STO), USB-C and Bluetooth connectivity and Industrial Ethernet communications for live integration with connected systems. The E4 has been designed to support a wide range of motors, including IE2 and IE3 induction motors, AC PM motors, brushless DC motors, SynRM, LSPM and hybrid permanent magnet assisted reluctance (PMAREL) motors, delivering future-proof compatibility with the evolving highefficiency motor technologies. Invertek’s latest precise current control algorithms make this possible, ensuring optimum torque production, superior thermal management, reduced electromagnetic interference (EMI), and a built-in C1 EMC filter. The Optidrive E4 includes a dual-channel Safe Torque Off (STO) system, certified to SIL3 and PL e/Cat 3. STO provides robust protection in safety-critical applications. E4 is ideal for applications such as CNC machining, automated cells, materials handling, and high-speed packaging lines. Integrating the stop function into the drive simplifies safety-circuit design, removes the need for external contactors, and speeds up emergency stops. The drive’s communication platform has been improved. With Industrial Ethernet interfaces, including PROFINET, EtherCAT, and Modbus TCP, allowing real-time data exchange for precision control and diagnostics. This supports predictive maintenance strategies and straightforward integration with Industry 4.0 and IIoT systems. The flight recorder provides key operational parameters, delivering real-time data that supports rapid diagnostics and minimises downtime in the event of a system fault. The USB-C port allows for easy in-box programming without the need for mains power or removing the drive from its packaging. Bluetooth connectivity provides remote commissioning and monitoring using a smartphone and Invertek’s OptiTools Mobile App, making it great feature for when drives are installed in confined or difficult to access locations. Every E4 drive has a unique QR code, when scanned with a smartphone, provides instant access to the Digital Optidrive Passport page. This online resource brings together important drive data in one place including datasheets, ecodesign information, factory test certificates, and product documentation. It allows engineers, OEMs, and installers to easily find everything they need, making commissioning, traceability, and lifecycle support much easier.
