Drives & Controls Magazine May 2026

The precision drives specialist, Nabtesco Precision Europe, has relaunched its Web site, giving it a clear structure and intuitive user guidance to improve access to products, services and technical information. The new site guides users quickly to relevant content – be it products, technologies, industries, services or business divisions. This is supplemented by explanatory texts, technical backgrounds and an FAQ area. Visitors have access to videos, animations, CAD data, safety data, operating instructions, and White Papers. Nabtesco’s portfolio includes cycloidal and strainwave gears, rotary indexers and mechatronic systems. www.nabtesco.de/en Videos interview manufacturing executives from across EMEA Rockwell Automation has announced a new season of its ROKStudios video series consisting of conversations with manufacturing leaders from across the Europe, the Middle East and Africa region. Recorded at Rockwell's ROKLive EMEA event in Madrid, the new episodes feature manufacturing and industry leaders sharing perspectives on resilience, sustainability and digital transformation, among other topics. The interviewees include executives from Repsol, BIC, Nexe, Tiber Pack, Zeta, Procisa and MME Nordic. The new videos join more than 100 previous recordings at the ROKStudios portal. www.rockwellautomation.com/engb/company/news/presentations/rokstudios Guide advises SMEs on working with the UK defence sector Make UK Defence, which represents nearly 900 UK defence manufacturers, and Lloyds, have published a practical guide for SME businesses wanting to explore emerging opportunities in the UK defence sector. The guide provides an overview of the support available to improve their technology adoption and manufacturing output, including routes to market within MOD and the wider supply chain, details of future defence programmes, access to finance, as well as accreditation and cybersecurity requirements. https://drivesncontrols.news/uhy5h4e4 Podcast explores how AI is shaping everyday technologies Mouser Electronics has released a podcast looking at how AI (artificial intelligence) is shaping everyday technologies and experiences. The Engineering AI for Daily Life podcast, part of Mouser’s Empowering Innovation Together (EIT) technology series, explores how AI is increasingly embedded in everyday products and services. It is aimed at helping engineers to explore the tools and insights they need to build the next generation of AI-enabled systems. www.mouser.co.uk/empowering-innovation/ engineering-ai-daily#podcasts 48 n NEW PRODUCTS n DESIGN DATA AND MULTIMEDIA May2026 www.drivesncontrols.com Emerson has expanded its family of high-performance IPCs for demanding applications, such as AI, machine learning and advanced analytics. The new PACSystems IPC 6010, 7010 and 8010 models include the first CPU specifically designed to support AIenabled capabilities such as predictive maintenance, process optimisation, quality inspection, decision support, supply chain management and more. The updated IPCs offer more options for challenging industrial applications, with a range of functions and price points to support scalable operations and lower cost-of-ownership. www.emerson.com/ en-us/catalog/emerson-ipc Micro-Epsilon has extended its confocalDT IFC 241x range of confocal chromatic controllers with a pair of two-channel controllers that enable two-sided thickness measurements using one controller. The compact IFC2412 controller has an adjustable measuring rate up to 8kHz and a submicron resolution from 2nm. The IFC2417 model operates at up to 25kHz and allows multipeak measurements of up to five transparent layers. The IP40-protected controllers can be mounted on a DIN rail in a control cabinet. Both have Ethernet and EtherCat interfaces and two analogue connections. www.micro-epsilon.co.uk Relaunched Web site gives access to precision drive data IDS (Imaging Development Systems) has announced an industrial ToF (time-of-flight) camera with a 1.2-megapixel resolution and built-in depth processing. The Nion 3D camera provides high-resolution and stable depth information at 30 fps, even during rapid movements and in changing lighting conditions. It can achieve good depth accuracies, even when objects are moving quickly. It it suitable for applications where precise 3D data is needed at real-world process speeds. It is suitable for volume measurements and palletising applications. The IP67-protected camera can capture moving objects with almost no blurring. A high resistance to stray light allows it to be used indoors or outdoors. It has a measuring range of 0.3– 7.5m. Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) simplifies installation and cabling. The camera’s onsemi AR0130 depth sensor is said to offer a higher resolution, lower noise, more stable results in ambient light, and better motion stability, than other ToF systems IDS www.ids-imaging.en/nion Pepperl+Fuchs has announced a stationary 1D/2D code reader capable of high-speed and DPM code reading. The CleverReader offers flexible configuration, and is said to have an attractive price-to-performance ratio. The compact sensor reads all common 1D and 2D codes, even on reflective surfaces and displays. A basic version (VOI1000) reads codes reliably in static applications, while a highperformance version (VOI1100) can recognise codes moving at speeds of up to 3.5m/s, as well as DPM (direct part marking) codes. Parameterisation is performed using control codes on the device, or via an intuitive graphical interface. The code reader has an RS-232 interface, and a 24/5V converter cable with a trigger connection. The output string can be adapted to feed results into an ERP system. Additional functions include: automatic error image memory, match codes, and various reading modes.
