46 n NEW PRODUCTS March 2026 www.drivesncontrols.com Kollmorgen has introduced a series of high-power-density hazardous area servomotors with Atex and IECEx certification for use in Zones 2 and 22. Based on its AKM platform, the AKME servomotors can be used in environments involving ignitable gases or dusts, where choices have been limited until now. They will allow machinebuilders to use cost-effective hazardous area machines for Zone 2 and 22 applications, rather than having to use overspecified Zone 0 or 1 motors. The motors are available in IEC frame sizes 2-7 to work with drives powered by 48 or 75V DC, and 120, 240 or 400V AC supplies, at speeds of up to 5,000 rpm. Feedback options including resolver, SFD-M, ComCoder, EnDat, Hiperface and BiSS B. The motors can be paired with Kollmorgen’s AKD, AKD2G and Essentials servodrives for optimum torque density, responsiveness and precision. The S8AS2 supply is designed to help reduce panel space, wiring complexity and downtime. The device combines functions that are usually implemented using multiple components, such as circuit protectors, monitoring devices and terminal blocks. By combining them, it reduces the number of components needed in control cabinets, and simplifies panel design and wiring. Each output channel is equipped with independent electronic circuit protection. In the event of an overload or short circuit, only the affected channel is shut down, while the others continue to operate. The outputs are UL Class 2 compliant, supporting safer system design and easier compliance with standards. The supply provides continuous monitoring of output voltage, current, temperature, and channel status. This data is available via a digital display for fast troubleshooting and easy verification during commissioning and maintenance. The monitoring supports predictive maintenance by allowing early detection of abnormal operating conditions. Omron https://industrial.omron.eu/en/ products/s8as2 Phoenix Contact has launched a new generation of thermalmagnetic circuit-breakers for industrial applications with high inrush currents. The 8mm-wide PTCB breakers have been designed to save cabinet space, and can be bridged directly to Phoenix’s Clipline terminal blocks, allowing easy integration with existing applications. The breakers are available in finely graduated nominal currents from 0.5– 16A and cover applications with F2 and M1 curves, ranging from sensitive electronic components to motors and transformers. Alignable current monitoring with adjustable signalling thresholds provides transparency on the load status – both locally and via remote signalling. Simple PLC integration via digital outputs supports diagnostics and increases availability. The circuit breakers are operated using a tilting lever that depicts the switching status, even when the power is off. Phoenix Contact 01952 681700 www.phoenixcontact.co.uk Delta has released an AC servodrive for highperformance applications that need advanced safety functions. The ASDA-A3-EP drive complies with IEC 61508 (SIL 3) and ISO 13849 (PL e), and has Safe Torque Off (STO) built in. An optional card can add 13 extra safety functions, including SS1, SS2 and SOS. The drive has an EtherCat interface and supports the FoE, EoE and FSoE sub-protocols. FSoE results in high reliability with robust error detection and validation mechanisms. The drive is also equipped with a TCP/IP port and support for IoT nodes. The ASDA-A3-EP transmits Ethernet data and files directly for faster communication. The drive is said to be easy to set up. Its cost of ownership has been cut by using advanced connectors, and can be reduced further when combined with a Delta battery-free motor. The drive can also integrate with third-party motors, while the safety functions can be activated easily using a simple digital wired signal. Measuring 17 x 8 x 4.7mm, the sensors have an impact-resistant stainless-steel casing, engineered to ensure operational longevity even when close to welding lines and the paths of robotic machinery. The sensors are available from Plus Automation. www.plusautomation.co.uk Servodrive targets safety-critical motion control uses Smart DC supply integrates power, protection and diagnostics
