24 n SPS SHOW REVIEW February 2026 www.drivesncontrols.com Among the new arrivals on Beckhoff’s stand at SPS was the compact AM1000 servomotor which, combined with the company’s AX1000 servodrive, offers a coordinated, cost-optimised drive system with simple plug-and-play commissioning. The motor covers a power range up to 1kW at 230V AC and up to 1.7kW at 400V AC. It is available in various stack lengths with flange sizes of 40, 60 or 80mm. One Cable Technology (OCT) is used to carry the power supply and feedback signals via a standard cable, reducing cabling costs. The motor is equipped with a battery-free single- or multi-turn encoder, and is suitable for cost-sensitive applications where space is at a premium but good performance is needed. Options include holding brakes and planetary gears. Combining the servomotor with the AX1000 servodrive results in a versatile, cost-optimised drive system. The harmonised components enable simple, convenient commissioning via Beckhoff’s TwinCat 3 Drive Manager 2 software. An innovative winding and insulation system means that the servomotor is suitable for most networks worldwide. It can be implemented as a single- or three-phase system. integration with TwinCat simplifies design, tuning and diagnostics. The servodrive is available as a single-axis system or a cost-effective dualaxis version. In combination with the AM1000 servomotor, it offers driveintegrated safety functions such as STO and SS1. Beckhoff’s AF1000 VSD also forms part of the economy drive system for basic applications such as conveyor systems, pumps or fans. The AF1000 is available in single- or dual-axis versions for single- or three-phase supplies and covers the power range from 0.37–5.5kW. Other Beckhoff developments on show at SPS included: n The ED series EtherCat terminals with tool-free installation via push-in connections, and app-based diagnostics via a DMC code. Simplified handling speeds up installation, commissioning, and maintenance, cutting downtime and increasing system availability. n Next multi-touch panel PCs which combine control and visualisation functions, saving space and cabling. The CP46xx and CP47xx Panel PCs cover displays from 7–23.8", with the larger versions being available on mounting arms. The PCs use Intel Atom x7000RE CPUs with up to four cores, or Armbased multi-core CPUs. In the future, Intel Core processors will top the range. n The ECP and ENP hybrid connectors that combine power with signal and data communications in one cable. The portfolio includes B12, B17, B23 and B40 connectors that transmit 24V DC at the I/O level, as well as 400V AC or up to 630V AC/850V DC and currents of up to 72 A. The data modules are standardised, cutting the number of variants, while maintaining flexibility. Mechanical and visual coding prevents mismating. The connectors can be assembled from just ten components, reducing installation times by up to 66% compared to rivals. n A new generation of Intel Atom processors with up to eight cores for Beckhoff’s C60xx ultra-compact industrial PCs which combine high computing power in a compact format with a wide range of installation options. The fanless C6015, C6017 and C6025 IPCs can be used for more demanding computing tasks than before. n The TwinCat 3 Machine Learning Creator (MLC), which extends the engineering workflow to include the automated creation of AI models without needing a knowledge of data science. The focus has so far been on image processing, but this is being expanded to include the analysis of timebased process signals. n The TwinCat 3 CoAgent – an AI-based assistant with dialogue interaction. The CoAgent for Engineering (TE1700) acts as a personal assistant for control programmers, suggesting code, optimisations and generating documentation automatically. The CoAgent for Operations (TF1700) module extends the technology to machine operation. It monitors process values, detects deviations, and helps to diagnose faults. Intelligent alarm evaluation reduces false alarms, prioritises faults, and shortens the time it takes to rectify them. www.beckhoff.com Servomotor and drive combine to create low-cost motion platform IO-Link masters are 20% smaller and 2.5 times lighter At SPS, Murrelektronik presented a daisy chain and multi-protocol-capable IO-Link master that it claims is 20% smaller and 2.5 times lighter than competing fieldbus modules. The pure.IO master saves space, material and energy when it is mounted on moving components. It includes patented diagnostics in the form of four corner LEDs and three LEDs per port, that are visible from all sides. The pure.IO family also includes I/O modules that allow IO-Link to be looped through, offering daisy chain topologies for power, fieldbus and IO-Link. Up to 256 I/Os can be networked using one pure.IO IO-Link master. Other technologies that Murr was highlighting at SPS included: n The Vario-X installation system that integrates all peripheral elements from sensors to the cloud, regardless of the manufacturer, and is compatible with all major industrial protocols. n The MVK Fusion hybrid fieldbus modules which combine three installation functions: discrete I/O, safety I/O and IO-Link. Murr is offering a hybrid module for EtherNet/IP applications, using the CIP Safety, with matching safety cables in four-, five- and eight-pin versions. n Its MQ15 power connectors for asynchronous or three-phase motors up to 7.5kW. The IP67-protected connectors transmit high currents in limited spaces using a fast connection system said to cut installation, service and maintenance times by up to 80%. A new switch cabinet feedthrough for these connectors makes installation quicker and easier. n The latest generation of Murr’s Xelity managed switches which, for the first time, also support wireless data transmission. The IP67 switches support decentralised digital networking for modular automation systems. www.murrelektronik.com Beckhoff’s AX1000 servodrive and AM1000 servomotor offer offers a costoptimised drive system with simple plug-and-play commissioning. Murr says its IO-Link master is smaller and lighter than alternatives
