46 n NEW PRODUCTS October 2025 www.drivesncontrols.com Leuze has announced a range of hand-held code scanners that use a battery-free power technology, resulting in lighter, easier-to-handle devices that scan up to 20% faster and have a 15% higher contrast tolerance for faint codes. The IT 1960 scanners are powered by supercapacitors, which offer extremely short charging times, can be used for tens of thousands of charging cycles, and are said to be up to four times more durable than nonrechargeable batteries and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The scanners are ideal for single scans: scan, plug into a charging station, and after a few seconds the scanner is ready for use again. Scanning is made easier by a green LED aimer with target point, and wide-area white light illumination. The scanners are available in wired or wireless versions, which weigh 220 grams. They are particularly suitable for reading barcodes in clean, dry environments at temperatures from 0–50°C. They have IP52 or IP41 protection, and a reading range of up to 728mm. Leuze electronic 01480 408508 www.leuze.com Geared motors are designed for low-torque machines Sick has announced a new generation of absolute encoders designed to help deliver higher machine and system productivity. Available in single- and multi-turn versions, the compact ANS/ANM58 encoders support the latest Profinet Ethernet specification with Encoder Profile version 4.2. They provide rapid, bidirectional communications with PLCs for shorter cycle times, precise control of movements, and rapid integration. The encoders have been designed to meet the growing demand for precise and clocksynchronous motion control, condition monitoring of machines and systems, short cycle times, and easy installation. Users can configure their ideal encoder, choosing between single- or multi-turn versions with resolutions of 18 bits (262,144 steps/turn) or 34 bits (262,144 steps/turn x 65,536 turns). The encoders’ space-saving design is suitable for demanding installations, with the shortest versions being 39mm long. The encoders come in solidshaft, blind hollow-shaft or through hollow-shaft versions, with a choice of flanges. They can be installed directly onto mechanics or mounted with wire-draw mechanisms or rotary measuring wheels to monitor linear motion. The encoders can be tailored to specific applications using Sick’s Sopas configuration tool, or during integration into a control system using Siemens TIA Portal. Sick www.sick.com/gb/en Apex Dynamics has launched a range of compact AC and DC geared motors suitable for lowtorque machines with DC, single-phase AC or three-phase AC supplies. The SGM motors and geared motors come in a variety of formats, including inline, right-angle and hollowshaft variants, and motors with either flying lead or terminal box connections. They span a wide range of ratios. The easily configurable geared motors are designed to fit into compact machines in applications such as small conveyors, sealing and filling machines, label heads, check weighers and vision systems. Apex Dynamics www.apexdynauk.com Mclennan is offering a series of miniature linear positioning actuators with leadscrew or rolled ballscrew mechanics or, where improved backlash is needed, a patented Constant Force leadscrew option with a selfadjusting polymer nut arrangement. The AMP (Applied Motion Products) MLA actuators are based on Nema 11, 14, 17 and 23 frame stepper motors and can be configured as motor-only open-loop variants, or supplied with integrated motors as all-inone programmable closed-loop linear motion positioning systems with optional network communications. Options include brakes and encoders. Four models cover stroke lengths from 10–300mm in both leadscrew and ballscrew variants. A choice of leadscrew and ballscrew pitches allows users to choose the best combination of speed and resolution, with speeds of up to 100mm/s with the largest size. The smallest actuator, with a Nema 11 frame motor, is 22mm wide, with a height over the carriage of less than 25mm. The largest model, based on a Nema 23 stepper, has is 62mm wide and has a 35.5mm height over the carriage. The maximum load capacity for this model is 7kg horizontally and 4.4kg vertically. The StepServo closed-loop stepper versions are available on the three larger models. They offer decentralised positioning and lower installation costs because of reduced wiring, faster machine design and build times, and an Industry 4.0 control concept.
