59 www.drivesncontrols.com July/August 2025 NEW PRODUCTS n SEW-Eurodrive has combined a precision planetary gear with a synchronous servomotor to create a short, low-inertia drive for dynamic applications. It says that the PxG combination will offer advantages wherever rightangle planetary gears are used in tight spaces with high dynamic requirements. Compared to conventional planetary servo gearmotors, the combined drive is up to 40% shorter for a comparable peak torque. SEW says the servo gearmotors can increase productivity by up to 34% in short-cycle applications. Three sizes of gear, in three performance classes, can be combined with two motor sizes, each in two lengths. The one-, two- and three-stage gears cover ratios from 4-220. Peak torque ratings are from 70990Nm. In delta robot applications, for example, the high dynamics and precision of the integrated gearmotors will allow highspeed handling in limited spaces, performing more than 200 picks per minute. The low-noise synchronous servomotors use the latest winding and magnet technologies, resulting in high efficiencies with low heat generation, despite the compact design. SEW-Eurodrive www.sew-eurodrive.co.uk Applied Motion Products (AMP) is offering an integrated closedloop servomotor, drive and controller in a compact Nema 8 frame size. The TSM08X3L-R StepServo integrated motor, available from Mclennan, is aimed at distributed, spaceconstrained applications, and is said to deliver higher accuracy, faster acceleration and more torque than open-loop stepper motor-based systems, with a higher efficiency. The 61mm-long system with a 16mm square face mounting and a 20mm square frame, comes in two versions: a singleconnector model; and a multiconnector model (power, I/O and communications) for simple daisy-chaining and Modbus RTU set-ups. Powered from a 24V DC supply, the motor delivers 0.05Nm holding torque and a 30% torque boost capability, while its 16-bit magnetic, single-turn absolute encoder has a 20,000 pulse/rev resolution for a static positioning accuracies of up to ±0.018 degrees. Real-time position correction improves dynamic accuracy. There are two RS-485 ports for configuration, programming, daisy-chain Modbus RTU, and communication with PLCs and HMIs. AMP’s Q programming software can be used with preprogrammed command sequences for motion, I/O, conditional processing, multitasking, maths functions and more. Mclennan 01252 531444 www.mclennan.co.uk Baumer has announced a 20.5mm-thick ultrasonic sensor which it claims is the thinnest available for front mounting, with a 20mm blind range, said to be the shortest available. With a detection range of up to 2m, the UF200 sensor is suitable for applications that previously failed due to insufficient installation space. Baumer’s engineers have rethought the design of ultrasonic sensors using a custom chip (Asic) and dynamic signal evaluation to ensure the fastest response times (up to 10ms) and shortest blind range, for best-in-class performance. Smart filter functions can be added via IO-Link and there is a choice of sonic cones (narrow, medium or wide) making the sensor adaptable to a variety of applications, allowing easy detection of difficult objects, or into narrow openings. In point level detection, the intelligent disruption filter ensures that agitators or other interfering objects will not impair measurement results. A single sensor can fulfil several applications, reducing the number of variants needed. The UF200 is the latest member of Baumer’s NexSonic generation of ultrasonic sensors that includes cubic and cylindrical models. Baumer 01793 783839 www.baumer.com/gb/en Planetary gear and servomotor combo is ‘up to 40% shorter’ Rockwell Automation says that manufacturers can design smarter machines faster and more efficiently using its AllenBradley Micro850 2080-L50E and Micro870 2080-L70E controllers with newly revised firmware and the latest Connected Components Workbench software (version 23). The enhanced controllers allow easy monitoring of variable modifications using a remote 3.5” LCD display that supports functions such as mode changes, program backup and restore, user-defined screens, and more. The new firmware and software extend the Programmable Controller Communication Commands (PCCC) function to the controllers, offering the ability to communicate like a MicroLogix controller, and providing backward compatibility with legacy communications. The new software also offers enhanced security through password support for up to 64 characters. Also available are trending capabilities for PowerFlex drive parameters and Micro800 tag variables.
