58 n NEW PRODUCTS July/August 2025 www.drivesncontrols.com Sick has launched a compact laser distance sensor that provides fast, stable and precise shortrange measurements. The OD200 delivers high performance even in demanding environments, such as highly reflective, dark or irregular surfaces, including shiny metal and plastic parts, and in poor lighting conditions. It can be used for in-line quality control, counting of small parts, and detecting height deviations in assembled parts. The plug-and-play sensor supports standard connections and enables high process speeds. The IO-Link-enabled device also provides data for performance optimisation and condition monitoring. A new triangulation measurement core helps to deliver high accuracies. The sensor supports process speeds up to 3kHz, and spans ranges from 25–160mm, with a repeatability down to 2μm. Interference caused by incorrect measurements and missing signals is limited, reducing downtime, adjustments and maintenance. There is an analogue current/voltage output, and a switching I/O. The sensor can be programmed using Sick’s free Sopas parameterisation and application software. Sick www.sick.com Safety relays packs two protective functions into one device Lenze has launched a decentralised frequency inverter which, it says, sets a new benchmark for energy efficiency, digital readiness, and ease of use. Based on the earlier i550 motec, the new i650 motec inverter offers sensorless control of synchronous motors. Enhancements include a builtin PLC, advanced positioning functions, and scalable safety capabilities. It can run standalone applications, reducing the need for central PLCs, cutting integration costs, and simplifying machine architectures. A regenerative feedback capability means that energy otherwise lost can be recovered and fed back into the system. When combined with Lenze's efficient m550 motor and g500 gearbox, energy savings of up to 30% are possible. A built-in IO-Link master eliminates the need for extra hardware, while the drive's realtime data capabilities – via the Drive Datahub – support functions such as predictive maintenance. A digital nameplate means that product data is available before commissioning. Installation and connection are simplified by the use of M12 push-pull connectors. There is one cable for both 400V power and the 24V controls supply. Safety functions include STO and CIP Safety, with optional Safe Brake Control and Safe Limited Speed. These are available for Profinet-Profisafe, EtherCat-FSoE, and Ethernet-IP with CIP Safety. Lenze www.lenze.com Phoenix Contact has announced a safety relay that can monitor up to two safety functions. The PSRuni relay supports common safety functions. Configuration is carried out on the device, which making it easy to adapt to specific requirements The space-saving relay is compatible with numerous sensors and actuators, simplifying integration with existing systems. It can be used to monitor emergency-stop buttons, safety doors, and light grids, for example. It can be used for either single- or two-channel operation. The relay complies with safety standards up to SIL 3 and PL e. With an automatic or manual monitored start and push-in connections, the relay is said to be easy to install and maintain. Phoenix Contact 01952 681700 www.phoenixcontact.co.uk Power Jacks, the Scottish manufacturer of actuation, lifting and positioning systems, has announced a range of electric linear actuators designed for quick and easy automation of manual systems, transitioning from hydraulics to electromechanical linear motion, and upgrading screwjack systems. The Poweram actuators are available in machine screw, stainless-steel and ballscrew versions, each in five sizes with nominal capacities from 10– 200kN. All versions have the same housings, allowing users to vary the performance of their systems, while maintaining the same dimensions. The stainlesssteel versions offer high corrosion resistance and can be used in harsh environments. Power Jacks’ Poweram and ESeries screwjacks use the same worm gearbox for each size, offering an easy upgrade path. The modular system includes end fittings, drives and feedback devices suitable for all versions.
