37 www.drivesncontrols.com July/August 2025 ROBOTICS AND AUTOMATED MANUFACTURING n Talent and technology take the fast lane for car-makers In addition to its global manufacturing report, Rockwell has also drilled down into the survey data to examine attitudes in individual countries and in particular sectors, including automotive manufacturing. Its analysis of responses from 130 leaders in car and tyre companies in 15 countries, reveals that they are focusing on AI, upskilling and innovation to overcome operational and workforce challenges. Workforce pressures are the most urgent challenge for automotive firms. Their worries about cybersecurity have declined, suggesting many manufacturers have made progress in securing their digital environments. Key findings of the automotive report include: n The top workforcerelated challenge over the coming year is expected to be change management (cited by 37% of respondents), ensuring that employees and departments adopt new technologies and processes effectively. Other key concerns include worker retention (33%), the rising cost of skilled workers (36%), and difficulties finding new employees (31%). n Automotive and tyre manufacturers are continuing to invest in AI, production monitoring and cybersecurity. More than 62% of respondents cited long-term business impact as being the primary driver for these investments, followed by expanding their capacity (58%). n The automotive sector sees the rise of AI as being less of a risk now, than it did in 2023 (14% in 2025 vs 24% in 2023) with quality control, robotics and process optimisation emerging as top use cases. n The top goals of adopting advanced technologies are to improve quality, cut costs and reduce risks related to safety, cybersecurity and compliance. n To fill a projected 7.9 million shortfall in workers by 2030, manufacturers are not only investing in automation but also seeking more workers with AI experience and skills such as communication, adaptability and analytical thinking. “The future of automotive manufacturing hinges on transformation – not just of technology, but talent,” points out Rockwell’s vicepresident for global industry, James Glasson. “As AI and automation reshape the factory floor, success belongs to those who are investing in people. Upskilling and innovation are now the driving forces behind growth.” pot en ti a l o f y o Are you inve our workforce? esting in the mproves Comp Creates an Adaptable a ncreases Productivi mproves Safe W Industry recognised co I I a I any Reputation nd Flexible Workforce y and Performance orking Practices ourses from the BFPA W t a p Please call 01608 6479 00 or bfpa.co.u RITISH FLUID POW B email enquiries@bfpa.co.uk k/training WER ASSOCIATION / Àȭďȭ̪ ǽ¶õǽĔä ÀîÀŴď ËĄõí ̪ āÀĄËÀ¶ďçĦ Ò̪ ĄíõîÕĈÀ¼ ¶õíāçÀďÀ ĈĦĈďÀí ËõĄ ďÒÀ ƉƋ w ¶õîďĄõç ğõçď̪ ÌÀ çÀğÀçǽ gÒÀ íõ¼Ĕ稥 [ } ĈĦĈďÀí ŵÀĥÕµçĦ ¨¼áĔĈďĈ ďõ ĦõĔĄ ¨āāçÕ¶¨ďÕõîǽ 0ď Ĉ¨ğÀĈ Ĕā ďõ ƍƇ ʡ Ĉ⍶À Õî ďÒÀ ¶õîďĄõç ¶¨µÕîÀď ¨î¼ ¶¨î µÀ À¨ĈÕçĦ ÕîĈď¨ççÀ¼ ďÒ¨îäĈ ďõ ÕďĈ ā¨ďÀîďÀ¼ ¶õîîÀ¶ďÕõî ďÀ¶ÒîõçõÌĦǽ ȭgȭ ÕĄ¶ĔÕď ĄÀ̪ äÀĄĈ ?ď¼ǽ ʉƋƋ ȡƇȢ ̷ ƉƐƍ ƋƉƇƊƊƍ ÕîËõʴÀȭďȭ¨ǽ¶õǽĔä CREATES SPACE The REX-System
