The RX40NC6S-TS and RY48PT20S-TS modules connect directly to Melsec iQ-R PLC buses, ensuring fast response times and increasing cost-eectiveness and productivity compared to Safety-over-Ethernet systems, according to Mitsubishi. There are 16 inputs on the RX40NC6S-TS, and eight outputs on the RY48PT20S-TS module, with a maximum load of 2A per output, up to a combined total of 16A. This module eliminates the need for additional safety relays, cutting costs and optimising cabinet space. The gearboxes are smaller than helical and helicalbevel gearboxes of a similar rating and, compared to earlier the P series, are 24% lighter, 10% shorter and have 6% smaller diameters. An optional fan can give the gearboxes an enhanced thermal rating compared to other planetary gears. The fan draws in air radially, accelerates it, and generates a cooling stream of air with a high flow rate. The higher thermal rating means more power can be transmitted continuously through the drive without overheating.
