46 n NEW PRODUCTS March 2025 www.drivesncontrols.com Mitsubishi has announced a pair of safety local I/O modules that eliminate the need for additional safety relays, thus cutting costs. The RX40NC6S-TS and RY48PT20S-TS modules connect directly to the company’s Melsec iQ-R safety modules, ensuring fast reaction times and enhancing operational eciency compared to Safety-over-Ethernet systems. With 16 single input points on the RX40NC6S-TS, and eight single output points on the RY48PT20S-TS, the modules oer exibility and high-speed safety. The output module supports a maximum load of 2A per point – up to a total of 16A – cutting costs and optimising cabinet space. Mitsubishi Electric Europe https://emea.mitsubishielectric. com/fa Roller table motor portfolio is expanded Turck Banner is oering a choice of two controllers for motordriven rollers (MDRs) – one from each of its parent companies. MDR conveyors use low-voltage motors, consuming less energy than conveyor systems with large external motors. The main dierence between the controllers is their control method. The Banner R50C uses analogue control of the roller speed and direction, while the Turck TBEN-LL-4RMC uses the CanOpen protocol. It has four channels capable of driving 24/48V DC rollers, and has four I/Os for connecting sensors or other devices. The R50C controls a single MDR and designed to be mounted on the conveyor, near the MDR. A dual control version is planned. It uses Modbus to communicate with PLCs, and needs no extra housing as it meets IP65, IP67 and IP68. Lcoded M12 feed-through power connectors allow several to be daisy-chained, sharing up to 16A. Two A-coded M12 connectors link to a PLC and MDR to control speed, start/stop, direction, error conditions and diagnostics. The TBEN-LL-4RMC controller also uses M12 connectors and the controllers can also be daisychained. It can control conveyor sections independently. The modules support Ethernet/IP, Pronet, CC-Link or Modbus TCP. For large conveyors, one IP address to be used with 33 slave IDs, saving on IP addresses. The TBEN meets IP65, IP67 and IP69K and can be mounted on the side of a conveyor without needing a housing Both systems have separate power for the controller and motor, allowing E-stops to cut the motor power while maintaining communications. Turck Banner 01268 578888 www.turckbanner.com ABB has strengthened its portfolio of roller table motors intended for the hot, corrosive environment of steel mills. The IEC lowvoltage motors can be paired with ABB VSDs (variablespeed drives), supporting intense and dynamic workloads, while reducing downtime and running costs. The motors cover shaft heights from 132-450mm, output power ratings from 3.3–165kW, and voltages from 220–690V. The IP55-protected roller table motors have shockproof, temperature-resistant shells that repel both dust and moisture, resulting in service lives of up to 20 years. The motors’ dimensions, arrangements and power ratings can be customised and they can be installed with minimal disruption. Efficiency is said to be a key to staying competitive in the global steel industry which is facing rising costs and tighter environmental regulations. ABB Motion www.abb.com Stober has released a standalone drive controller for up to four axes, aimed at manufacturers of special machines who need to react exibly to changing customer demands. It covers lowto mid-power applications in three sizes, and it can control linear or rotating synchronous servomotors. The controller ts into control cabinets with installation depths as small as 210mm. An SD card can act as an application memory, for fast automated commissioning and easy servicing. It also allows congurations to be transferred. Firmware-based EtherCat and Pronet are available for connection to higher-level control systems. Motion control is possible via CiA 402 and PROFIdrive. The SB6 is available with an optional text display and buttons. The controller supports the STO and SS1 safety functions via FSoE (FailSafe over EtherCat) and PROFIsafe, up to SIL 3, PL e (cat 4). It allows cable lengths up to 100m, in combination with the One Cable Solution (OCS) and EnDat 3 technologies. Stober has developed a hybrid cable with the encoder-maker Heidenhain.
