Murrelektronik has launched an AI-driven product and document search tool to provide fast access to its range of more than 95,000 products. Users type a question into a chatbot called Murrphy and it instantly returns an answer, along with a link to the relevant part of a document. Developed in collaboration with elunic, the chatbot is one of the functions to be oered by My Murrelektronik – a digital hub for the company's information and digital services. The hub will also oer uKonn-X, a digital pilot that simplies machine installation and commissioning. At the heart of the development is a Large Language Model (LLM) – a form of AI that generates text-based content. The LLM analyses documents in a matter of seconds to deliver results. www.murrelektronik.com Database will help you to find Profinet products quicker Users and manufacturers will be able to nd Pronet products faster and easier thanks to a new product nder. PI (Pro bus & Pro net International) has created a standardised product designation and a simple product class structure, based on the Eclass open data standard for classifying products and services. The new database has been structured along similar lines to the IODDnder IO-Link Product Finder. The database contains more than 4,000 products, and is growing. Following a successful trial, migration to the new database is underway. www.pro bus.com/products/product- nder Motor savings calculator adds extra functions ABB has released phase 2 of its Nema motors Energy Savings Calculator which helps motor users to understand the performance, nancial and environmental eects of upgrading current and end-oflife industrial motors to more energy-ecient designs. Key updates include: a variable-speed calculator and graph; multi-motor capabilities; torque percentage; annual operating cost estimates; ROI estimates for up to 20 years; and constant vs partial load bargraphs. Phase 3 of the calculator, due later in 2025, will add a generic search for dierent motor congurations, extra input capabilities and customisable reporting functions. https://drivesncontrols.news/d2ztwlo1 AI tool answers technical queries faster SKF has launched a generative-AI-enabled tool to help customers to access technical information faster than using search engines. Called the SKF Product Assistant, it directs users to information and oers simple summaries. It allows users to ask questions, rather than entering keywords. For example, you can ask: “What is the dierence between 6210 and 6210 N?”. The assistant is said to surpass the capabilities of general-purpose LLMs (large language models). www.skf.com 48 n NEW PRODUCTS n DESIGN DATA AND MULTIMEDIA February 2025 www.drivesncontrols.com Kollmorgen has updated its SafeMotion Monitor (SMM) rmware, allowing OEMs to use SMM functional safety with more encoder and motor types, for a wider range of applications. The SMM2.0 update is compatible with all motors, including AKM2G and AKMA types, with a Hiperface-DSL rotary-safe feedback system, giving a wider range of feedback options. SMM2.0 also enables a second instance of Safe Operating Stop (SOS). SMM2.0 is said to make compliance easier, with 16 safety functions, including SafePosition, SafeStop and SafeSpeed. www.kollmorgen.com MVTec Software is launching version 24.11 of its Halcon machine vision software, promising “groundbreaking technologies and improvements”. The release focuses on improved AI with deep-learning algorithms, as well as the ability to detect and evaluate unexpected behaviours in deep-learning-based classification. There is an optimised QR code reader, and the shape-based matching technology has been made more user-friendly, making it accessible to users without advanced machine vision expertise. www.halcon.com A new sensor for print quality verication from Leuze combines 1D/2D code reading with optical character verication. The DCR 1048i OCV device can determine reliably whether best-before dates, batches or other printed information are present, complete and legible. Users can teach the sensor quickly and easily by presenting it with a reference image of the ideal print. The device detects defective printing – for example, due to clogged print heads, low ink cartridges, or adhesion problems. Once a threshold value has been set, defective products can be rejected. Leuze www.leuze.com Chatbot acts as your guide to products and documents Managed Ethernet switches supports copper, fibre and PoE Sensor combines code reading with character verification Antaira has launched an environmentallyhardened, Light Layer 3 managed Ethernet switch designed for harsh locations. The LMP-0702G-SFP-24-TV2 switch provides both copper and bre Gigabit Ethernet connections, providing extra §exibility. There are four Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting 802.3at/af PoE to supply up to 30W per port, as well as a data-only Gigabit Ethernet port, and two dual-rate SFP bre ports that support high-speed bre uplinks over longer distances. Built-in PoE software allows remote PD monitoring, diagnostics and recovery. The switch has an internal DC-to-DC booster that allows a low-voltage input to provide power for connected PoE products. It accepts inputs from 12-55V DC to supply up to the full IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ per port. Network reliability is improved by incorporating the ITU-T G.8032 ERPS redundancy protocol that protects switching mechanisms for Ethernet layer ring topologies. If communications fail, there is a switchover to the redundant path within 50ms. Antaira Technologies www.antaira.com
