46 n NEW PRODUCTS February 2025 www.drivesncontrols.com SEW-Eurodrive has added a simple, “cost-optimised” frequency inverter to its Movi-C modular automation system, for applications up to 1.5kW. With the addition of this “basic” openloop speed control version, the Movitrac series now spans three levels – basic, classic and advanced – which differ in their areas of application, without affecting their compatibility with the rest of the Movi-C system. The Movitrac “classic” inverter supports the STO safety function and comes in power ratings up to 11kW for speed and torquecontrolled applications without an encoder. The con gurable, highperformance “advanced” version uses a single-cable technology, combined with digital encoders for synchronous or asynchronous motors. Its applications range from encoder-free speed control, to dynamic positioning in ratings up to 315kW. All three inverters can be connected via Pro net or EtherNet/IP to integrate with control systems and other MoviC products. They are said to be more powerful, or to cost less than earlier models while maintaining the same computing power. The Intel Core i processors, in particular, o‰er a signi cant leap in performance and e’ciency. Beckho‰’s ultra-compact C6025 and C6030 IPCs with 11th generation processors can implement TwinCat Core Boost in a small form factor, allowing the clock frequency of the cores to be con gured individually, so that they do not all have to be clocked at the same rate. It is also possible to operate individual cores continuously and in real time in “turbo mode”, resulting in up to 50% more computing power for one or more processor cores, or the possibility of using more coste‰ective CPUs. The 13th generation Core i processors with up to 24 cores, used in Beckho‰’s ATX IPCs, have a hybrid architecture with performance and e’ciency cores that can be di‰erentiated in TwinCat. The IPCs’ SSDs (solid-state drives) use 3D TLC ›ash memories, operated in pSLC mode via rmware con guration, resulting in long service lives with more than 50,000 write cycles and write speeds up to 5,200MB/s. Beckho 0491 410539 www.beckho.com/en-gb ifm has launched Pro net and EtherNet/IP I/O modules designed to achieve reliable, e’cient network structures. The modules allow direct connection of sensors and actuators at the eldbus level, eliminating the need for additional transmission systems. They integrate with ifm's IOLink masters, sharing standardised M12 connections and port con gurations. The precise counting of sensor pulses, independent of a controller’s cycle time, enhances accuracy and e’ciency. The I/O modules are ideal for high-frequency counting applications, allowing direct output switching without delays. O‰ering 2x16A L-coded M12 connections for daisy-chaining, the modules ensure stable power supplies. They are enclosed in durable housings suitable for stringent hygiene requirements, and are available in protection ratings of IP65, IP66, IP67 and IP69K (achieved using stainless-steel protective caps). ifm electronic 0208 2132222 www.ifm.com/gb/en Industrial PCs offer a wide choice of processors Schaeffler has announced improved insulated bearings said to be better protected against the risk of the currents that can damage a bearing’s rolling elements, raceways and lubricants, leading to premature failure. The outer surfaces of the outer and inner rings of the J20G series bearings are coated with Insutect A, an insulating aluminium oxide that is applied using a plasma spraying technique. Schaeffler has refined the coating process for enhanced protection, even under challenging operating conditions, such as high humidity. The result is said to be lower maintenance costs, increased machine availability and operational safety, and extended grease service lives. The bearings can withstand voltages of at least 3kV and exhibit a high impedance and a resistance of at least 250MΩ. The wear-resistant aluminium oxide coating is a good conductor of heat. The bearings have the same dimensions and tolerances as standard bearings, with which they are interchangeable. The coatings are usually applied to deep-groove ball bearings and to cylindrical roller bearings. There are several variants for di‰erent applications.
