47 www.drivesncontrols.com November/December 2024 NEW PRODUCTS n Emerson has launched an Energy Manager package that simplifies industrial electricity monitoring using a combination of hardware and software. Ready out-of-the-box, the Energy Manager monitors energy use in real time, allowing users to gain insights into their energy consumption and operating costs. An easy-to-use dashboard provides asset-specific energy use, associated costs and CO2 emissions for up to 10 points (expandable to 50 points). They can identify idle machines and optimise machine schedules during off-peak hours, cutting electricity use and costs. Emerson says that most facilities can cut energy waste by 10– 30% and carbon emissions by 15–30%. The system is easy to integrate with new or existing energy meters. The software is available either preinstalled on edge hardware or as a standalone application. The Energy Manager can be paired with Emerson’s Compressed Air Manager to provide a streamlined view of energy costs and compressed air use by machines across a site. The Omron TM25S cobot is suitable for palletising, manipulation and welding applications. It weighs just over 80kg, making it easy to integrate into existing workflows, for applications such as end-of-line material-handling or machine-tending. The cobot offers an optional vision system for tasks such as package identification and part inspection. Joint covers protect against harsh environments. A DC power option allows integration without needing a secondary power source. The drive oƒers 400V 3-phase output currents up to 75A for larger scroll compressors in demanding applications. Invertek has also added new safety features to the Coolvert range with frame sizes 3, 4 and 5 already certi‰ed to IEC 60730, and size 2 due to follow soon. The drives can be set up in less than 15 minutes. They come with a ‰ve-year warranty. www.invertekdrives.com HMS Networks has expanded its embedded communication interfaces with the Anybus CompactCom B40 Mini – a solderedon interface that complements the existing interfaces that can be embedded into any industrial machine or device, providing connections to all major industrial networks. The soldered-on option joins an existing lineup of modules and pluggable bricks. It is 30% smaller than the bricks, and comes preloaded with Pro‰net, Ethernet/IP, Powerlink, EtherCat, Modbus TCP and BACnet industrial Ethernet networks. www.hms-networks.com Sick has enhanced its multiScan and picoScan LiDAR sensors to provide customisable 2D and 3D sensors that are said to be more powerful, compact and robust than before, and to deliver good object detection, ‰eld evaluation and fast data streaming. Industry-speci‰c software applications can run on the sensors, making them customisable, with bespoke parameters, operation and integration. www.sick.com Monitoring package can cut energy wastage by up to 30% Nidec Drives has launched its most advanced drive user interface to date. The Control Techniques KI-Keypad Plus makes drives easier to use and adds “exibility to applications and machinery. It o”ers easy access to key parameters, while a FastStart function guides users through drive con–guration. The keypad is compatible with Nidec’s Commander C, Unidrive and Digitax servodrive families, as well as its specialist pump, HVAC and elevator drives The large, clear colour display makes drive status and parameter descriptions easier to read. Built-in Bluetooth supports connections to PC tools for commissioning and programming, which can be performed without opening the cabinet. The keypad can show up to 10 user-selectable parameters, which can be scaled individually using custom units. A troubleshooting function helps to identify and resolve errors providing error codes, suggestions of possible causes, and recommended actions. The IP54 protected (Nema 12) keypad can handle harsh environments. PIN protection prevents unauthorised amendments to drive settings. Nidec Drives www.ControlTechniques.com Gates has improved the performance of its Super HC (high capacity) MN (moulded notch) bandless v-belts by changing their composition from prototypical chloroprene rubber (CR) materials to ethylene elastomer (EE) compounds. The narrow cross-section belts can increase load capacities. As well as longer service lives due to higher wear resistance, the new belts can be used in temperatures from –51ºC to 121ºC. Chloroprene belts usually go up to only 60ºC. The “exible, notched belts have a high power density, reducing stress on equipment by allowing narrower sheaves. A 15% increase in capacity compared to banded belts can lead to compact drives, thanks to smaller pulley diameters. The belt edges are machined for even sheave groove contact, resulting in smooth running. Gates is manufacturing the new belts in Europe, along with its EE Tri-Power v-belts, resulting in shorter lead times and increased availability.
