52 n NEW PRODUCTS September 2024 www.drivesncontrols.com Sick has announced an inductive proximity sensor designed to provide stable detection of metals in harsh environments, at a competitive price. The IMG sensor is aimed at machines that need precise switching points and high levels of repeatability. The robust, stable sensors can be used in environments where many other inductive sensors would fail. They are suitable for end and home position detection, as well as simple speed detection. The devices are impervious to shocks, vibration, oil, cooling lubricants, and weather effects such as rain, snow, mud and frost. The sensors can be customised to suit specific requirements. Sick offers users samples to help them to select and modify the devices to suit an application. Sick UK www.sick.com/gb/en Inductive sensors operate reliably in harsh environments AC stepper drives ‘outperform 750W servomotors’ Maxon has released a compact motion controller for up to six axes. The MicroMacs6 controller provides high-performance motion control in a 55mm-long, 40mm-wide package that weighs 26g, simplifying integration for robot and machine builders. The motion controller is designed for embedded kinematic applications such as Delta, Scara and mobile robots. It can also enhance the productivity and efficiency of pick-and-place applications. The controller can co-ordinate multiple axes, or can control axes individually. It can handle up to six motor controllers, including combinations of maxon’s EPOS4 position controllers and Escon speed controllers. Motion functions include path generation with sinusoidal/trapezoidal profiles, and position and velocity feed-forward control. I/Os include six freelyprogrammable digital inputs and two programable analogue inputs with a 12-bit resolution, operating from 0–10V at 1kHz. There is also a USB interface and a 25kHz PWM capability. The MicroMacs6 supports CANopen as both a master and slave, and offers EtherCat compatibility. Programming languages include MS Visual C# and MS Visual C++, as well as maxon’s ApossC_SDK language. Maxon www.maxongroup.com/en-gb Moons’ Industries has introduced a new generation of pulsed AC stepper drivers for applications requiring high torque at low speeds. The SRXAC series offer high continuous torque outputs up to 1,200 rpm, out-performing 750W servomotors in low-speed applications, and helping to improve production line efficiency and stability, according to Moons’. The drives support both pulse and speed modes, offering users flexible control for a variety of applications. The speed mode increases options for acceleration/deceleration and can be tailored via software. The drives support single-phase 85265V AC inputs, with 4.5, 8 and 12A current options. Parameters such as subdivision, speed, running current and idle current are set quickly using a 16-bit DIP code. For customised settings, users can connect via a Type-C interface to modify and save parameters using dedicated software. This interface also simplifies tuning. There is a 16-bit motor selector for easy matching, and a 12-bit DIP switch for motor current interpolation with antiresonance functions. Moons’ Industries (UK) 07471 361992 www.moonsindustries.com/uk Nidec Drives Control Techniques’ Commander S drives now come with terminal covers as standard which users can replace or leave off when installing the drive, giving instant access to the terminals. The drive’s performance and protection level are unchanged. It is IP20-protected, with or without the cover fitted. The power and relay screw terminals are fingerproof. A label on the back of the cover shows 10 fast-start parameters, making it easy to set up the drive manually. The cover is available as an accessory for existing drives. www.controltechniques.com HepcoMotion has expanded its SL2 corrosion-resistant, stainless-steel linear motion range to include more bearings and slides, and incorporating most types from Hepco’s GV3 range. Additions include single-edge slides (with or without precision racks), flat track and rollers, and rack-and-pinions. The single-edge slides allow two slides to be mounted apart for large platform carriages, and for those with high moment load capacities, with increased stiffness and stability. The SL2 range now also includes corrosion-resistant end-stops. www.hepcomotion.com Compact six-axis motion controller weighs just 26g Panasonic Industry has expanded its laser measurement sensor portfolio to include a high-accuracy series with a resolution of up to 0.5μm, a linearity of ±0.05% of full scale, and a 100μs sampling rate. The HL-G2 sensors have built-in controllers, avoiding the need to configure the right combination, and cutting installation times. The sensors span measurements from 25–400mm. They can be used for predictive maintenance applications such as measuring the thickness of cutting tool blades. If the thickness falls below a set value, the blade can be changed to avoid poor performance. Communications take place via EtherNet/IP. The sensors output measurement data digitally, thus avoiding the risk of errors when analogue values need to be converted to digital values.
