61 www.drivesncontrols.com July/August 2024 NEW PRODUCTS n WEG has expanded its range of HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) motors, increasing the maximum output power to 7.5kW and raising efficiency levels. The new W30 Smart EC (electronically commutated) motors exceed the highest IEC efficiency rating, combining a permanent magnet motor with an inverter. The integrated motor is one of the few to achieve an IE6 efficiency rating for output powers below 4kW. Its losses are 20% lower than an IE5 machine, thus reducing power consumption significantly. Users can adapt the speed to suit the application using the inverter, leading to extra energy savings. Remote speed control modes allow the speed to be varied from 200 to 1,500/1,800 rpm, or from 500 to 3,000 rpm. The compact brushless motors have no terminal boxes, or cables between the motor and the inverter, thus saving space. The new range builds on the previous WECM line, increasing the maximum output power from 4kW to 7.5kW to suit more powerful HVAC systems. The range starts at 0.12kW, meeting the requirements of most fan applications. WEG www.weg.net Integrated HVAC motors claim IE6 efficiency levels Puls has launched a series of four-channel electronic circuit breakers (ECBs) for system safety and power distribution applications from 90–480W. The Pisa-M breakers manage the current distribution on the secondary (load) side of a control system, separating it into smaller “power islands” which are easier to maintain and reduce the risk of costly power outages. The 22.5mm-wide ECBs are claimed to be the smallest fourchannel ECBs on the market, freeing up space in control cabinets. They protect system components against overcurrents and short-circuits, as well as wiring against overheating. They also protect the power supplies from overloads. Puls says that users spend less time on maintenance, cut replacement costs and can focus more on their operations. The breakers have digital coded interfaces to control them and monitor their status remotely. Power distribution can be managed via a PLC and a central user interface. Push-in connectors allow quick, tool-free installation. Twocolour LEDs show the status of each output channel in real time. A button allows easy on/o switching and resetting of channels. There are several versions, including some that allow each output channel to be set to a current value from 1–8A, and others with xed output currents. The compact N-Tron NT116 switch includes 16 high-performance copper ports (10/100BaseTX / RJ-45), and is housed in a rugged metal enclosure. It oers high shock and vibration tolerance, and all of the ports have ESD and surge protection. The switch supports speeds of up to 3.2Gb/s, uses storeand-forward technology and supports full- and half-duplex operation. Two 10-49V DC power inputs are provided for redundancy. The switch has a 1.2 million hour MTBF rating, and is suitable for data acquisition, Ethernet I/O and process control applications. It operates in temperatures from -40°C to 85°C and has Atex and IECEx certification. Red Lion www.redlion.net Four-channel electronic circuit-breakers are ‘the smallest available on the market’ Rockwell Automation has released a rmware update for its PowerFlex 6000T medium-voltage VSDs which supports permanent magnet (PM) motors, with output frequencies up to 120Hz for high-speed applications, and operating voltages from 2.3–11kV, at up to 680A. The upgraded VSD oers expanded predictive maintenance capabilities. Communicating real-time component health data helps to cut downtime and provides maintenance alerts for fans, transformers and airow, as well as motor and machine bearings and lubrication. The drive shows runtime alerts for critical components such as power cells. https://drivesncontrols.news/883veci6 The linear motion specialist Tolomatic has expanded its RSX range of highforce electric linear actuators to include ve new sizes, capable of delivering forces of up to 294kN. The actuators, available from Inmoco, are designed to replace hydraulic systems, eliminating the risk of leaks and improving performance They are available with ball or planetary rollerscrews. An IP67 option oers resistance against dust and water ingress. Special versions are available for extreme cold or marine applications. www.inmoco.co.uk Micro-Epsilon has extended its optoControl series of optical micrometers with a high-performance LED version for demanding tasks. The optoControl 2700-40 model oers high precision and sampling rates, with a 40mm measuring range. It can measure contours, diameters, gaps, edges and segments for inline quality control, automated production and machine monitoring applications. The meter operates on the shadow-casting principle and can measure objects down to 0.3mm. Orthogonal alignment of the measuring object is not necessary. www.micro-epsilon.co.uk Brusatori Electric Motors (part of the KEB Group) has introduced a mechanical mounting system for safe encoders for its DL4 series of servomotors that can assume Functional Safety functions when used with an approved drive system. The functions depend on the encoder type. The compact servomotors are designed for high-torque applications. They can be customised using dierent shafts and various types of feedback. The servomotors are available with torque ratings from 5–530Nm. Four encoders with safety functions are planned, as well as a new resolver. www.keb.co.uk Unmanaged switch operates reliably in harsh conditions
