NEW PRODUCTS n Mclennan is offering a series of integrated servodrives from the US manufacturer Applied Motion Products (AMP), which combine a high torque-density and low rotor-inertia brushless motor, an absolute encoder, drive stage and motion controller in a 24–60V DCpowered package. The MDX+ drives are available in 40, 60 and 80mm frames, covering the power range 100–550W. A new efficient design gives good heat management that keeps the motors cool. Options include pulse train control, RS485, CANopen and EtherCat, as well as e-stop, dynamic braking and STO (SIL3) options. Aimed at distributed precision motion control tasks where torque/force, velocity and/or positioning are needed, the compact drives can replace motor-and-drive systems with easier installation. Commissioning is via userfriendly software that includes auto-tuning, oscilloscope and mechanical analysis functions. High-resolution (17bit) encoders and low cogging servomotor characteristics deliver precise control. An optional absolute encoder with battery backup stores positions if the power fails. The MDX+ has a 300% peak torque capability, with the 550W version delivering 400%. Fieldbus options include CANopen, Modbus/RTU and EtherCat, with EtherNet/IP and Profinet options planned. Streaming commands or analogue control from PCs and PLCs is possible, while AMP’s ‘Q’ programming multi-tasking language, in combination with on-board I/O, provides conditional processing, maths and other high-level functions. The iTrak 5750 Intelligent Track System oers an alternative to traditional conveyor systems that, Rockwell says, will give users “the opportunity to rede¡ne machine productivity using faster, smarter and more ¢exible motion”. The closed-loop system – an expansion of the existing iTrak portfolio – comprises a variety of straight and curved tracks, allowing installations to be tailored to suit the application. Rockwell says that it oers a “revolutionary” way to move goods and can be used to design more reliable machines that need less maintenance and deliver high levels of productivity. Items are carried on individual movers, whose motion is controlled via user-friendly software pro¡les. Rockwell says the technology can remove bottlenecks and boost productivity so that short runs can become more pro¡table, while margins can be raised in standard runs. A system can consist of up to 128 movers, which come in four sizes from 50 x 50mm to 100 x 100mm. They are tracked and traced automatically. The system supports Safe Torque-O and Safe Stop 1 functions up to SIL 3 / PLe. Rockwell Automation www.rockwellautomation.com WEG has launched new communication cards for its ADV200 drives to simplify commissioning and maintenance, and provide remote access for service operations. The EXP-ETHxxx-ADV200 cards integrate with Ethernet-based eldbus systems, enabling fast, reliable peer-to-peer communications. The card, which is compatible with Pronet, Ethernet-IP and EtherCat, cuts installation times and costs. It reduces cabling by managing multiple protocols and drives on one cable. It can exchange data with a PLC via Pronet or Ethernet/IP and simultaneously communicate with external devices via Modbus TCP. The card can be connected to a local PC, allowing installers to commission multiple drives from one platform. The cards allow fast data exchange with PLCs, achieving 1ms latency rates, making the drives suitable for dynamic control. www.weg.net netw disco working over your Meet switches 16-Port t Hero Etherne Brainboxes new your application with Industrial f the unique demands o a hero sales@br xescom o orking inbo w brainboxes com/hero-ethernet witches o s inboxes.com oxes.com/hero ethernet
