54 n NEW PRODUCTS July/August 2024 www.drivesncontrols.com Faulhaber has combined its high-torque, brushless BX4 servomotors with a motion controller to create what it claims is the world’s smallest integrated motion control system. The BX4 IMC includes a servo controller and a 12-bit encoder and extends the motor length by just 18mm. The integrated drives, available in the UK from EMS, come in 50 and 68mm lengths and support speeds from 1–13,000 rpm. The drives provide torque, velocity and position control. Current control helps to protect against overloads. The drives are available with RS-232 or CANopen interfaces. Several can be controlled using a single master port, even with the RS-232 versions. Built-in digital and analogue I/Os allow the BX4 IMC to operate in a standalone mode, without a master, with local control tasks and homing executed onboard. The drives comply with the CiA 402 servodrive standard which species how drives communicate with masters. This ensures the IMCs are compatible with PLCs. Compliance with EMC emission standards minimises the impact on nearby electronics. Conguration can be done via a PC running Faulhaber’s recently updated free Motion Manager 7.1 software. EMS 0118 9817391 www.ems-limited.co.uk Integrated motion controller is ‘the world’s smallest’ Customised gearboxes can be configured in minutes EtherCat stepper drive provides real-time control Flender has added new power classes, sizes and designs to its range of industrial gearboxes, allowing users to tailor them for more than 100 applications, including conveyors and hoists. Customers only buy what they need, eliminating unnecessary components and maximising eciency. Flender has digitised its engineering process, allowing the Flender One boxes to be congured “in minutes” using just three parameters. The company is claiming savings in project planning times of up to 25% through a combination of instantly accessible 3D data and short delivery times, resulting from its automated manufacturing processes. The gearboxes are equipped with Metaperform gearing, which is said to reduce power dissipation by up to 20% compared to previous models, and to deliver 30% higher thermal capacities. Also, bearing lifetimes are said to be 80% longer, resulting in faster paybacks. Each box comes with comes with an AIQ Core sensor which provides digital monitoring and analytical functions, cutting unplanned downtime by up to 70%. Data- and needs-based maintenance intervals can cut servicing costs by up to 40%, and downtime by up to 50%, Flender claims. An optional torque measurement function allows processes and operating points to be optimised. Flender CEO Andreas Evertz says that Flender One “represents a signicant shift in how we think about gearboxes. It is not just a mechanical iteration of its predecessor FSG, but an entirely new solution from the rst customer inquiry to operation in the plant.” Flender www.ender.com Kollmorgen has launched an EtherCat-compatible drive for two-phase stepper motors up to 3A rms continuous operation (4.2A peak). The P80360-ECE drive, available from Inmoco, provides real-time control and enables rapid integration into existing EtherCat systems to enhance throughput and machine capabilities. The drives can be connected in a daisy-chain topology, minimising cabling and set-up times. EtherCat o¤ers the ¥exibility of decentralised congurations, placing the drives close to axes, while onboard intelligence reduces demand on central controllers. There are four digital inputs and three digital outputs. Operating modes include cyclic synchronous position (CSP), cyclic synchronous velocity (CSV), prole position, prole velocity, as well as various homing modes. The drive is programmable as an EtherCat slave. Commissioning and management is done via the Kollmorgen Studio software. The drive can integrate with any Kollmorgen Automation System controller, or third-party EtherCat masters. Inmoco 01327 307600 www.inmoco.co.uk Nidec Drives is o ering an SI-BACnet IP option module to provide high-speed Ethernet-based communications for its Control Techniques Commander C drives, F600 pump drives and H300 HVAC drives. The module provides enhanced control and eciency, ensuring accurate, co-ordinated operation. Multiple applications can be combined for convenient centralised control. Dual Ethernet ports and plugand-play integration ensure reliable communications, minimising downtime, and maximising continuity. All of the compatible drives o er a ve-year warranty. The module can provide motor data references to the drive, as well as supplying process values or setpoints to its PID controller. Drive status information can also be retrieved, while analogue and digital I/O can be monitored and controlled. Resetting drive faults is also possible, along with commissioning using the Connect PC tool. www.controltechniques.com
