47 www.drivesncontrols.com June 2024 NEW PRODUCTS n Apex Dynamics has launched a series of planetary gearboxes with the claim that they deliver the best combination of value and precision performance. The MD and MF gearboxes promise enhanced torque outputs and efficiencies, with long lifetimes, high rigidity, and backlash in the range of 3–4 arcmin (depending on the number of stages). The series includes right-angled versions (MDK and MFK) and covers ratios from 4 (single-stage) to 10,000 (four-stage). Available in frame sizes 064450, the MD and MDK gearboxes have rotary face outputs, with an alternative version (MDS) available that offers the choice between input shafts that are smooth or have keyways. The MF and MFK versions have shaft outputs and are available in frame sizes 060–240. Apex Dynamics www.apexdynauk.com Ruland Manufacturing is offering a range of rigid couplings with inch-to-metric bores. Using offthe-shelf couplings like these saves time and money, and avoids the need to re-machine or order custom-made couplings. They are available in the UK from Acorn Industrial Services. Rigid couplings have a higher accuracy and can transmit more torque than similar-sized flexible couplings. One-piece couplings simplify installation, while twopiece couplings have a balanced design for smoother operation at speeds up to 4,000 rpm. Clampstyle couplings are available with a proprietary anti-vibration coating to maintain holding power and torque capabilities in most operating environments. The standard product line includes seven types of inch-tometric motion-control couplings and universal joints. The couplings do not introduce misalignment or vibration into a system, making them suitable for precision servo applications and shaft-to-shaft connections. Ruland Manufacturing / Acorn Industrial Services www.ruland.com/rigid-couplings www.acorn-ind.co.uk/ruland Motion Control Products (MCP) is offering a pair of efficient servodrives for powering lowvoltage (12-48V DC) motors up to 12kW. The Rayon 70 and 300 drives from Redler Technology are optimised to withstand harsh environments. The high-current servodrives excel in rugged environments, and can be mounted near motors in space-constrained applications. They can power DC or brushless motors with continuous currents of 55A rms (100A peak) for the Rayon 70, and 250A rms (750A peak) for the Rayon 300. The drives support motor feedback devices including SSI encoders, incremental encoders with Hall sensors, and sine/cosine encoders. Communications options include RS-232, RS-422, Can and Ethernet. For example, in some medical applications, connectors need to be nonstandard to prevent mis-mating. The connector-maker is offering design, tooling, manufacturing, assembly and automation capabilities and, through its affiliated companies, it has expertise in stamped, turned, and cast parts as well as in galvanics, PCB design, and component assembly. With the help of FMEA (failure mode and effects analyses), it can identify potential critical design and production challenges. Sample assemblies and preliminary tests in binder’s lab can help to optimise the custom products and to monitor and approve pilot series production. Binder www.binder-connector.de Ifm electronic has announced a range of Ethernet field modules that link binary sensors to fieldbuses, transmitting switching signals via the bus without needing additional transmission systems. The decentralised AL4xxx modules have a robust design with ingress-resistant M12 connections and can be used in harsh environments. The modules have power supplies with A-coded M12 connectors and L-coded M12 connectors that support daisychain configuration for efficient power distribution. A built-in high-frequency counter function ensures accurate counting, regardless of PLC cycle times.
