The CPS (cyber-physical systems) security specialist TXOne Networks has published its annual report detailing the growing range of cybersecurity issues facing global industries. The free Crisis of Convergence: OT/ICS Cybersecurity 2023 report details intensifying challenges, including growing attacks via ransomware-as-a-service models, exploitation of supply-chain vulnerabilities, and prevalence of statesponsored and politically motivated hackers. It includes the results of a survey of 405 IT and OT security decision-makers, as well as research on 545 cybersecurity incidents around the world in 2023. Topics covered include: ransomware; OT system maintenance; cybersecurity investments; and supply-chain integrity. www.txone.com/security-reports/ot-ics-cybersecurity-2023 Sustainability report outlines progress and outcomes Rockwell Automation has published its 2023 Sustainability Report, detailing its progress in this area, and how the company is working with manufacturers to address the challenges of making high-quality products at scale, while minimising their negative impacts on the environment. The report also highlights Rockwell’s ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiatives that are making the company more sustainable, while fostering a culture that empowers employees to operate safely, sustainably and responsibly. Rockwell has created a team responsible for integrating sustainability design principles into product development. www.rockwellautomation.com/en-us/company/ about-us/sustainability/report PI UK revamps its Web site for easier access Probus and Pronet International UK – usually abbreviated as PI UK – has launched a Web site designed to give easier access to matters relating to the organisation, including past presentations, videos of seminars, training courses, previous editions of newsletters, and information on how to join the group. PI UK was founded in 1993 as The Pro“bus Group to promote the use of Pro“bus in the UK. More recently, it has added Pro“net, IO-Link and omlox, “the world’s “rst positioning standard for industry”, to the range of technologies that it supports. www.pronet.co.uk Interactive brochure details hydraulic technologies Webtec, the manufacturer of hydraulic measurement and control products, has launched a digital brochure of its portfolio. The interactive brochure has product listings providing photos, bullet-point details, hydraulic circuit symbols and potential applications. Every product also has a QR code linking to more detailed information. Products covered include: control valves; condition monitors; hydraulic testers and multimeters; dataloggers and data acquisition systems; instrumentation systems; and accessories. https://les.webtec.com/PRODOV-OV-ENG-3846.pdf Cybersecurity report details growing threats facing industry 48 n NEW PRODUCTS n DESIGN DATA AND MULTIMEDIA March 2024 www.drivesncontrols.com Binder is adding protective caps to its NCC (Not Connected Closed) 670and 770-series cable connectors, protecting them against the ingress of dust and liquids when unmated. The cap ensures that the connectors meet the requirements of IP67 protection, even when unmated. The caps, which allow the connectors to be released for inspection or maintenance, have holding straps that can be attached to the connectors. www.binder-connector.de Phoenix Contact has released redundant Modbus/TCP bus couplers for its Axioline P remote I/O system, allowing standard and intrinsically safe (Ex i) I/O signals to be acquired. The couplers, installed in Ex zone 2, allow I/O modules to be connected directly from Ex zones 0, 1, or 2. The system can be congured with two bus couplers, each with its own IP address for client/server communication, using a redundancy management function block. The couplers perform redundancy switching internally without needing any extra software. When a coupler is switched, there is no loss of data, or interruptions to communications with the controller. www.phoenixcontact.co.uk Thomson Industries has added a high-speed option to its line of highload ballscrews. With a diameter of 50mm and a lead of 100mm, the new ballscrew supports high travel speeds in applications requiring dynamic load capacities up to 202.4kN. The ballscrews can optimise applications involving high-force lifting, pushing or pulling at high speeds. They are available with single or double nuts. Preloading is available as an option. Lead accuracy is up to ±12µm/300mm. www.thomsonlinear.com Boston Gear has introduced a new generation of its 700 Series wormgear speed reducers, with an improved curved design that eliminates almost all pooling of liquids during washdowns. The 316grade stainless-steel construction of the SS700 Gen2 reducers ožers durability and hygiene benets over coated, painted and aluminiumalloy versions for food and beverage applications. The IP69K-rated enclosures comply with IEC 60529 and can withstand washdown pressures up to 1,450 psi at four inches without water ingress. The new reducers can act as drop-in replacements for rst-generation models. www.bostongear.com/ss700gen2 igus has developed a twin-shaft stepper motor drive for its drylin linear axes, allowing two linear systems to be driven directly, thus saving space. Unlike conventional double-axis drives, where the motor is installed on the side and needs space, the twin-shaft stepper motor sits between the shafts. The motor has two output shafts. This design is said to o™er more šexibility when connecting and driving mechanical components. The one motor can drive two mechanical loads, such as two linear axes running in parallel. The con“guration also cuts costs – the motor is the same price as a single stepper motor. One option is to use a handwheel on the second drive shaft, allowing the motor to be rotated manually in an emergency, as well as letting users adjust the zero point of the linear axis by hand. If the power fails, a self-locking spindle axis can be adjusted by turning the handwheel igus www.igus.co.uk/info/ n23-e-motors-stepper-motorsdouble-shaft Dual-drive stepper motor saves space on linear axes
