46 n NEW PRODUCTS June 2023 www.drivesncontrols.com HMS has launched a gateway that connects EtherCat subordinate devices to Profibus, EtherNet/IP, Profinet or Modbus-TCP based control systems. The Anybus Communicator EtherCat Main Device scans an EtherCat network for devices. It identifies each device and maps its data to the control system, eliminating the need to search for, and import, device description files (ESI). The gateway’s Anybus NP40 network processor supports data transfer rates up to 10 times faster than its predecessors. It can also exchange more data between networks, because it can transfer up to 1,500 bytes to and from connected PLCs. The gateways are designed to handle harsh environments. To protect against cyber-attacks, they have onboard security switches that prevent unauthorised configuration changes, and secure boot functions that resist attacks and infections from malware. Forward-facing ports and DIN-rail mounting simplify installation and allow the gateways to be located near connected devices, reducing wiring. Users can configure the gateways using drag-and-drop functions in a Web-based user interface. This is accessible via a dedicated Ethernet port, which can also be used to monitor network traffic and diagnose issues before they become problems. The multiScan sensor has a 60m range and can pre-process data on-board in real time, avoiding the need for an external controller. With its 360 x 65 degree fieldof-view and 16 scan layers, the sensor’s on-board pre-processor outputs a 3D point cloud with 690,000 measuring points, as well as a high-resolution 2D scan plane for precision navigation. The vehicle knows exactly where it is and where any objects are, and can update its 3D map as it moves. To enhance the 16-layer 360degree horizontal coverage, the vertical aperture angle is configured to optimise the layers between –22.5 and +42.5 degrees. This ensures reliable collision avoidance for objects at ground level, as well detecting drops and ramps. The sensor is available in housings up to IP65K and is equipped with 100Mbps Ethernet and eight multifunction I/Os, making it is easy to integrate. When ordering, users can choose predefined parameters or previously stored configurations, and the sensor arrives factory-calibrated and ready to use. Sick (UK) www.sick.co.uk Leuze says that it new KRT 3C multicolour contrast sensor is the smallest it has ever made. The sensor operates even when there are only tiny differences in contrast, and with glossy surfaces or highly reflective materials. The multi-colour functionality – red, green and blue light, as well as white and red laser sources – allows users to choose the best source for any material and contrast marking colour in packaging and labelling applications. The sensor detects contrasts precisely, with a response time of 50μs (125μs for laser) and minimal signal jitter. This helps to achieve high machine throughputs. The device, which measures 11 x 32 x 17mm, can fit almost anywhere. It can be set up via a built-in IOLink interface, and adjustments can be made rapidly when changing products. The IP67 and IP69K protected housing can handle aggressive cleaning agents. Leuze electronic www.leuze.com The Danish integrated motor specialist JVL has released an integrated brushless DC motor that doubles the power of its Nema 23 frame Mini-Mac series in a compact, high-torque-density, all-in-one positioning device aimed at OEM machine-builders. Available in the UK from Mclennan, the MAC 320-L delivers 320W RMS (750W peak) from its 48V DC drive electronics and includes two servo feedback options: an 8192 CPR magnetic incremental encoder; or a new 8192 CPR magnetic absolute multiturn encoder that needs no battery or gearing. Expansion module options include a choice six industrial Ethernet protocols, CANbus, PLC process or RS232/485 interfaces with D-Sub, cable gland and M12 connectors. www.mclennan.co.uk Belden has announced a range of cable glands that allow explosionproof or general-purpose ingress of variable-speed drive cables into enclosures and devices. The glands have a pass-through design for shield/ground isolation, and are suitable for all types of unarmoured tray cables, flexible cables and cords. www.belden.com/new-products Vacon’s NXP and 100 drives now have embedded condition-based monitoring functions, allowing them to act as smart sensors to monitor the condition of motors and applications. This will help users to spot potential issues early and correct them before they affect a process. Items monitored include: stator windings; load envelopes; and speed-related vibration (via an external sensor). The drives can perform these functions without being connected to a PLC or the cloud. Users can set various thresholds automatically or manually to determine monitoring baselines using a choice of methods. www.danfoss.com/en/products/dds
