55 www.drivesncontrols.com September 2022 NEW PRODUCTS n NEW PRODUCTS n DESIGN DATA A D MULTIMEDIA n Emerson has announced an HMI that combines easy-to-use, smartphone-like graphic displays with rugged industrial performance. Unlike traditional resistive displays, the PACSystems RXi HMI uses projective capacitive touchscreens that support 10- point multitouch functions such as swipe, pinch or zoom to expand views or to move to another screen. The HMIs come pre-loaded with Movicon WebHMI software, ready to operate out of the box. The displays are HTML5-ready, allowing users to collaborate, with operations, management and maintenance teams all viewing the same screen at the same time, boosting productivity and cutting maintenance costs. A data trending tool provides snapshots of productivity and quality, while the SQLite database tool and PAC analyser help to troubleshoot problems and cut downtime. There is support for OPC UA and MQT. The displays have an IP66 water resistance rating, and can be used in temperatures from –20 to +65ºC. They are resistant to chemicals, impact, scratches and dust. They comply with the IEC 62443 cybersecurity standard. The Allen- Bradley 42JA VisiSight M20A and 42EA RightSight S18 sensors offer a wide range of sensing modes and mounting options, and incorporate a red-light source for easy alignment. Multiple connection options and adjustment knobs for light or dark operation simplify installation, set-up and maintenance. The 42JA VisiSight M20A sensors offer a full range of sensing modes in sealed, cavity- free housings that minimise the build-up of dust and debris, and are said to be easy to clean. The 42EA RightSight S18 sensors offers the performance of larger devices in a smaller, more adaptable packages for applications where size and shape matter. Both lines are suitable for material-handling, packaging and assembly duties. LMAC produced the 24-page guide for Eama members, but it also available free-of-charge to non- members. Called An SME’s guide to smarter digital manufacturing and the benefits of Industry 4.0 adoption , the guide breaks Industry 4.0 down into several “pillars” and explains the Smart Industry Readiness Index (Siri) which assesses a manufacturer’s digital maturity and priorities. There is also a list of key terms. Eama is a group of 10 trade bodies working with government and others to strengthen the machinery and component supply chain in the UK. https://lmacuk.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/SME-guide.pdf Catalogue helps to choose the right linear actuators Matara has launched a 328-page catalogue covering its belt-driven and ballscrew linear actuators, including several new products: the space-saving KM ballscrew actuators; the cost-effective MTJ Eco system; the plug- and-play MCE/MCSE electric cylinder actuators; LMCA linear motors; and Unimotion stepper systems. The downloadable publication includes assembly examples, technical data and accessories, easy-to-read tables and CAD drawings. Where relevant, graphics depicting deflection are provided. The last third of the catalogue is devoted to ancillary components, such as gearboxes, couplings, control systems, and linear, servo and stepper motors. www.matara.com/catalogues Outsourcing resource centre targets machine-builders The manufacturing outsourcing specialist PP Control & Automation has pooled its expertise in a free-to-use online hub that offers insights into outsourcing and how to overcome common “pain points”. The content is a mix of downloadable documents, podcasts and videos that address outsourcing questions through a combination of guides, case studies and opinion pieces. There will also beWhite Papers on topics such as UL standards, production and engineering topics. PP hit a sales record of £28m in 2021 with demand for its services rising by 25%. www.ppcanda.com/resource-centre Ballscrew configuration tool simplifies sizing and selection Thomson Industries has enhanced its online ballscrew selection tool to offer more configurability options and faster performance. Users have access to expert guidance on configuring ballscrews. Faster processing and data loading allow them to download CAD diagrams of configurations quickly. An interactive reference table provides one-click access to information on safety factors. A real-time diagram displays the status of assemblies, and guides users through design sequences. www.thomsonlinear.com/bs
