The platform’s architecture allows users to adopt new communications technologies as they become available, avoiding costly and complex rip-and-replace procedures. The form factor adapts as application needs change. Up to ten hot-swappable I/O or PID modules can be added. Users can choose the appropriate software functions for an application, including networking gateways, protocol gateways, IIoT gateways and automation controllers with IEC 61131 capabilities. If the application changes, the gateway can be changed. Red Lion says this allow users to reduce or eliminate costly equipment changes simply by adopting new software. Redler Technologies (J126) will be displaying a sinusoidal and trapezoidal drive capable of delivering 55A rms continuous current, or up to 120A peak with adequate cooling. The Rayon 70 controller offers position (2kHz), speed (20kHz), current (4kHz) and stepper controls and supports Hall, digital or analogue encoder feedback. It offers position, speed, current, and stepper PID closed-loop modes. There are five digital optically isolated inputs, and two digital optically isolated outputs. Communications options include CANbus (1Mbps), CANopen (main commands), RS-232 and RS-422. The drives have built-in protection against excessive temperatures and voltages, as well as other problems such as a motor becoming stuck. OKW Enclosures (K124) will be displaying Rolec’s new taraSmart modular suspension arms which are said to offer advanced functions at a low price. The IP54-protected arms are similar to Rolec’s proven profiPlus arms, but are simpler and more cost-effective. They are designed to support light-to-medium displays, HMI enclosures and panel PCs weighing up to around 45kg. There is a choice of rectangular or round aluminium profiles, both with capacity for routing cables and network plugs. Each profile is available in four lengths from 250–1,000mm. The 48mm-diameter round profiles allows panel PCs from leading manufacturers to be fitted without adapters. There are four couplings – suitable for pivoting, hanging and upright installations – and six system elements (a base, two elbows, a socket joint, a wall joint and an intermediate joint).
