46 n NEW PRODUCTS February 2022 www.drivesncontrols.com ABB has announced two new robot controllers in its OmniCore family. The E10 and V250XT controllers promise 20% energy savings (through regenerative technology and recovering brake energy) and future-proofing through digital connections. There are more than 1,000 extra hardware and software functions, covering areas such as programming, offline commissioning and simulation, maintenance, vision and safety. The rack-mounting E10 controller is ideal for confined spaces and high-density production lines and can power ABB Scara and articulated robots with payloads of up to 11kg. the V250XT controller can handle articulated robots with payloads up to 300kg. The controllers can connect to ABB’s Ability cloud-based service suite, allowing performance to be improved using predictive maintenance and lifecycle management. New IoT gateway software allows data to be transmitted from robots, other machines and sensors to MES/ERP systems or the cloud. ABB’s TrueMove and QuickMove motion control technology is said to deliver class-leading cycle times, with high speeds, repeatability and path accuracy. ABB says that controlled robots will operate faster than others in their class, and up to 25% faster than with earlier controls. ABB Robotics 01925 741111 https://new.abb.com/products /robotics/controllers/omnicore Wago has announced a DIN- rail-mounting controller with integrated I/Os for smaller automation applications. The Compact Controller 100 can also be mounted in small distribution boards. The I/O is housed with the controller so needs no extra space for additional control components. The wiring interface is removable, making the controller easy to install and replace. The controller is programmed in accordance with IEC 61131 using Codesys v3. Extensive IEC libraries and macros simplify the process of creating applications. The controller uses a real-time Linux operating system and supports standard fieldbus protocols. Wago 01788 568 008 https://www.wago.com/gb WEG is offering its CFW500 variable-speed drives with IP66 protection compared to the previous IP20.The drives, which control the speed and torque of three-phase inductionmotors from 0.25–75kW, can handle high- pressure water jets. WEG’s CFW700, CFW701 and CFW11 drives are now available with IP55 protection. www.weg.net Sensor Technology has extended its new range of torque sensors with a version that has the sensing head and electronics in separate housings. The head can fit into confined spaces, and the electronics can be located where they are protected fromdamage. TheTorqSense SGR530/540 sensors are full four-element strain gauge bridges whichmeasure the deflection of shafts in different directions as they rotate under load, and then calculate the torque value. The sensors are accurate to ±0.1% and offer a resolution of ±0.01% of full scale. www.sensors.co.uk Pilz is offering a safety card that expands its PMCprotego DS drive- integrated safe motion system, adding further monitoring functions in accordance with EN 61800-5-2. With the PMCprotego S3 card, it is possible to configure application-specific error reactions in advance, using the PASmotion engineering tool. The extra safe motionmonitoring functions include safely monitored direction (SDI-M), increment (SLI-M), speed (SLS-M), operating stop (SOS-M), position (SLP-M) and speed range (SSR-M). https://www.pilz.com/en-GB Binder ’s NCC (not connected closed) 670 series of circular connectors have received a silver medal in the 2021 Leap (Leadership in Engineering Achievement Program) awards. The sub- miniature connectors can achieve IP54 protection when unmated, and IP67 whenmated, and are resistant to physical contact, dust and splashing water on all sides, and dust-tight as well as protected against temporary submersion. www.binder-connector.com/uk JVL ’s ServoStep integrated stepper motors are now available from Mclennan with a wireless Industrial Ethernet option that supports the Profinet, EtherNet/IP and ModbusTCP/UDP protocols. The option is available for MIS and MIL motors in Nema sizes 17 and 43, with output torques from 0.3– 25Nm.This will give machine- builders and OEMs added flexibility, especially where wireless control is preferred or necessary for autonomous motion tasks. www.mclennan.co.uk Delta has launched an enhanced range of compact, efficient servodrives with operating frequencies of up to 3.1kHz, low cogging torques, higher speeds, and lower acceleration and deceleration times than the previous generation. The Asda-B3 drives, with built-in STO (safe torque- off ), are designed to raise efficiency and output in a range of applications. Delta has also announced a new generation of servomotors (the ECM-B3 series) with improved power density, stability, and stiffness, and space requirements that are 40% smaller than the previous generation. Torque has been increased by 350%, and the top speed is now 6,000 rpm. The new drives incorporate auto-tuning functions that optimise their operation without manual adjustments. Responsiveness has been bumped up from 1kHz to 3.1kHz. A 40% reduction in settling time also helps boost productivity. Load tolerances have increased, allowing for better control resolution and system stability as well as a higher response bandwidth under similar load conditions. The drives offer several control modes from pulse train and analogue inputs, to bus systems such as CANopen and EtherCat (whose command frequency has been raised to 125μs / 8kHz to improve accuracy). Positioning is more precise thanks to 24-bit encoders, resulting in 16.7 million pulses per revolution and 46,603 pulses for one degree. Wizards guide users through fast, easy set-ups. Onboard diagnostic functions and usability have been improved.
