The show is the UK’s leading trade show for the drives, power transmission and motion control sector. Alongside Drives & Controls will a cluster of co-located events: Smart Industry Expo; Air- Tech; Fluid Power & Systems; and Plant & Asset Management. Also running at the same time at the NEC, will be the Manufacturing Technologies Association’s Mach manufacturing event, as well as the new Engineering Supply Chain Show, also organised by the MTA. The 2022 Drives & Controls show will see the return of a live demonstration area for robotics, reflecting this dynamic and rapidly expanding sector. Recent signings to exhibit at the show includes the global drives-maker Nidec Control Techniques and the relays, safety switches and enclosures manufacturer, Dold . This will be the first time that Dold has attended the show. FromTurkey, we will be welcoming the control panel and enclosure specialist Ersoy Pano , while another overseas exhibitor will be the Israeli firm Redler Technologies , whose portfolio includes servo motion controls, solid- state circuit-breakers and power distribution products. In the Smart Industry Expo zone, a first-time exhibitor is Pure Ideas , a company that is “dedicated to re-inventing the way that people protect ideas and innovations”. Alongside the exhibitors, a free three-day programme of seminars will run in two theatres on the show floor. The exact details are currently being finalised, but the seminars will be split into two main streams: Talking Industry Live and The Knowledge Hub. Themes to be covered in the Talking Industry strand include: n robotics and advanced automation (a panel discussion); n maintenance 4.0; n bridging the engineering skills gap for factories of the future; n the hidden menace of cybercrime; n adapting to the smart era; n fluid power and factories of the future; n the future of additive manufacturing; and n industrial networks, IIoT and communications. The Knowledge Hub will open with a presentation by a speaker from the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) and will cover topics including: n safe human-robot collaboration; n sensors for safeguarding machinery; n efficiency in compressed air systems; n wake up to automation; n asset management and the maintenance of fixed plant – conventions, legislation and statutory duties; n government support for companies developing high-efficiency drives using advanced semiconductors; n energy efficiency in pump systems; n using condition monitoring to improve plant reliability; n automation trends in the UK; and n dynamic states of safety. A wide range of expert speakers have been lined up to present the seminars, representing companies and organisations including: the Manufacturing Technology Centre, Gambica, Autodesk, the British Fluid Power Association, the Royal Air Force, Primary Engineer, ASTM International, the University of Nottingham, the British Compressed Air Society, Pilz Automation Technology, the Society of Operation Engineers, the British Pump Manufacturers’Association, the Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult, and RMS Reliability. You can now register to attend the exhibition and the seminars via the showWeb site at the address given below. n The 2022 Drives & Controls Showwill take place at the NEC in April. The exhibitor floor space is now almost full and final plans are being drawn up for a stimulating series of seminars that will take place in two theatres on the show floor.
