NEW PRODUCTS n Siemens has announced its first industrial 5G router, designed to connect local industrial applications to public 5G, 4G (LTE) and 3G (UMTS) mobile wireless networks. The Scalance MUM856-1 router can be used to monitor and service plants, machines and other industrial devices remotely via a public 5G network with high data rates. The router can be integrated into private 5G networks and supports applications such as mobile robots, AGVs and augmented reality servicing. The IP65-protected router can be used outside control cabinets in harsh production environments, or outdoors. The router provides downlinks at speeds of up to 1Gbps and uplinks to 500Mbps, supporting data-intensive applications such as implementing firmware updates remotely. Security functions monitor data traffic and protect against unauthorised access. There is an integrated firewall, as well as authentication of comms devices and encryption of data transmission via VPN. If no 5G network is available, the routers switch automatically to 4G or 3G. The first version has an EU radio license; versions with other licenses will follow. As well as connecting to public networks, the routers can be integrated with private local 5G networks. The V410-H readers have read ranges of up to 1.1m and can decode most 1D, 2D and DPM symbols. The readers support the WebLink PC configuration and run-time viewing utility that can be used to export images, customise data output, and save or restore configuration files. Configurations can be cloned across several readers. A hands- free presentation mode supports contact-free operation. Resistance to alcohol-based cleaners means that the readers can withstand frequent cleaning. Omron has also updated its HS- 360x handheld barcode reader for applications requiring IP65/67 protection or wireless connections, with the latest X-Mode decoding algorithms andWebLink PC configuration software. It has been rebranded V450-H. Omron https://industrial.omron.eu Handheld barcode readers capture challenging codes
