The iglidur W360CM bearings consist of aluminium housings and lubrication-free polymer liners, ensuring high accuracy and allowing precise movements. The bearings are interchangeable with metallic linear ball bearings, and can be converted to a 1:1 ratio. The long-lasting sliding elements, produced by injection moulding, have thin walls and high strength. Sliding inserts are pressed into the housing until a pre-tensioned snap hook fits into a groove, securing the liners, even under high loads and temperatures. The bearings can be mounted in any drylin housing and in standard designs of linear ball bushings. They can operate in temperatures from 0–50ºC. The Link linear drive, which weighs just 3g and is barely larger than a thumbnail, needs no gears and is ideal for applications with restricted installation space. The direct-drive linear actuator is aimed at applications requiring linear motions in tight spaces. By doing away with gears and shafts, it saves space and weight, is almost wear-free, and needs little maintenance. It is suitable, for example, for complex dosing tasks such as those performed by insulin pumps or auto-injectors. These applications require energy-efficient technologies that are reliable and easy to control. The Secure Remote Access Platform centralises the management of routers, allowing users to respond rapidly to alerts about crucial assets from any location. A remote service portal called RLConnect24 acts as a centralised site for monitoring and managing assets and users. It also provides data visualisation, geographic mapping, datalogging, and alarms based on operational or system-generated data. Software called RLDialUp allows operators to link PCs to remote assets for maintenance and configuration, as if they were plugged in locally. The routers offer optional LAN, WAN, serial, USB, Wi-Fi or 4G LTE connections. Red Lion has also launched a compact industrial firewall (RA10) which provides OT- cybersecurity. The firewall can learn and self-configure to help secure older assets, avoid address conflicts, and/or isolate machines or groups of machines. The PACEdge platform simplifies application development by bringing together open-source tools in a flexible, integrated and secure platform for machine data and analytics. Emerson has also launched a compact industrial edge PC that can run high-performance analytics close to machines. The PACSystems RXi2-BP edge computer uses patented temperature management technologies to optimise performance in hard-to-access locations without being limited by internal temperatures. The PACEdge platform helps users to collect, analyse, store and serve machine data close to the source or across enterprise systems. They can build and deploy applications for uses such as monitoring machine health, productivity and energy. Pre-configured modular development packages “containerise”applications, allowing developers to start in a pilot environment, and then to scale to hundreds or thousands of implementations without expensive network and server infrastructures, or having to worry about inconsistencies between operating environments.
