March 2021
“On the first day of the firstmonth in some distant year, thewhole sky froze golden. Some said it was the aftermath of the radium bomb. While others told of a final retribution. A terrible revenge of the Gods. ”– Def Leppard Except it didn’t freeze gold, it turned bright blue… brighter than normal, clearer than normal, quieter than it had been in the last 50 years…The roads were empty, even the waterways of Venice were reported to be clear enough to see the fish swimming in their shoals and the seas were calmer than ever. Much positivity in what soon became the worst recession in 300 years. Schools and workplaces closed down, ice rinks, gyms, swimming baths, hotels, shops, restaurants, hairdressers, non-essential shops and worst of all pubs - all shut! Non- essential travel stopped. Meeting your pals, impossible! Rioting in the streets, social distancing, bad cooking videos and wannabe rock stars appearing onYou Tube as people explore their forgotten talents - the whole world had gone mad in an effort to stay sane whilst forced into a global pandemic by COVID-19! Fortunately, the road to recovery has been illustrated with the help of the newly available vaccines and the lockdownmeasures which have been in place for most of the year - the endmay be in sight. Some measures will probably stay in place for some time, such as wearingmasks on public transport and in public places. One thing which has come to light, and been given new directives, is the need for cleaner air and better ventilation! The law requires employers to ensure an adequate supply of fresh air in the workplace and this has not changed during the pandemic. Good ventilation, together with social distancing, keeping your workplace clean and frequent handwashing, can help reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus. Why ventilation is important Good ventilation reduces the concentration of the virus in the air, therefore reducing the risks from airborne transmission. This happens when people breathe in small particles (aerosols) in the air after someone with the virus has occupied an enclosed area. So, even when we eventually come out of lockdown, these guidelines will still apply. That’swhyYouneedBeatsonFans&Motors.
