47 www.drivesncontrols.com February 2021 NEW PRODUCTS n Mitsubishi Electric has launched a pair of safety extension modules for its Melsec iQ-F FX5U and FX5UC PLCs for Cat 4, PLe or SIL3 applications. The FX5-SF-MU4T5 main module and FX5-SF-8DIA input expansion module allow users to enhance safety system performance, drive control and support by simplifying configuration and set-up while optimising connections and data transfer. The modules do not need programming. A rotary switch selects one of 9 types of safety logic, removing the need to load or develop sequences. The modules connect to the PLC quickly without needing communications modules. A built-in Web server allows the modules to be configured and data to be displayed via a browser. The main CPU can conduct advanced diagnostics and users can monitor the status of standard and safety control systems simultaneously. https://gb3a.mitsubishielectric.com WEG has announced a series of decentralised drive packages, consisting of WG20 gearboxes, Eusas motors and MW500 VSDs. The packages are said to cut energy consumption and floorspace, and to improve flexibility, compared to traditional drives. The IP66 VSDs span ratings from 0.12–9.2kW and line voltages from 380-480V. The equipment is also available in three frame sizes and ratings from 0.12– 1.5kW for 200–240V using WG20 motors with helical, parallel-shaft or helical-bevel gearboxes. The Eusas motors can operate in a frequency inverter mode, offering twice the power at a constant torque. www.weg.net Rockwell Automation ’s Kinetix 5100 servodrive and Kinetix TLP servomotor motion system is now available in a 480V version, widening its range of applications. The standalone servo system allows OEMs to create motorised or automated systems that can speed up changeovers. With built-in STO (safe torque off), users can remove motor torque without removing power from an entire machine, allowing it to restart faster after it has reached a safe state. Dual-port EtherNet/IP supports DLR (device- level ring) topologies. www.rockwellautomation.com Sensor Technology has extended its new range of non-contact torque sensors from 500Nm up to 13kNm. The wireless SGR510/520 sensors use a four-element strain gauge bridge design instead of the company’s traditional surface acoustic wave technology. They can measure and record sudden spikes in torque load. The sensors are accurate to ±0.1% and offer a resolution of ±0.01% of full scale. www.sensors.co.uk Phoenix Contact is offering a range of all-in-one industrial PCs with closed (IP65) die-cast aluminium housings and built-in Profisafe functions. The AIO PCs are available with 15.6, 18.5 or 21.5 inch full-HD touchscreens that can be operated even when wearing thick gloves. They respond to gestures. The fanless PCs are based on Intel Core i5 processors and can be used for machine control, process visualisation or quality assurance. The closed housings eliminate the need for extra protection and save space. The PCs can be mounted onto machines, or can be installed on support arms or stands. Keyboard modules are available that add up to 11 buttons or switches, as well as USB connections, keyswitches and other functions. The glass surfaces of the capacitive screens resist aggressive cleaning agents and sharp objects. Gigabit- capable Profinet and Profisafe switches are available to forward data to networks. Phoenix Contact 0845 881 2222 www.phoenixcontact.co.uk Schaeffler has launched a series of compact electromechanical linear actuators which, it claims, offer higher power densities and energy efficiencies than hydraulic or pneumatic systems. The P.Act actuators can be used either as force actuators or as precise positioning systems, and are available in basic actuator versions or driven versions in two sizes. High-performance planetary screw drives and spindle bearing supports ensure reliable operation, even in tough conditions. The actuators are claimed to be about 20% more effective than hydraulic systems and 50% more effective than pneumatic systems. They are protected by a robust, hexagonal-shaped, aluminium housing (providing protection up to IP 65S). They are configured via a modular design platform that enables them to be optimised for specific applications together with other Schaeffler components. T-slots along the length of the actuator provide flexible fixing options for the device and accessories. Options include a built-in linear measuring system, extra position switches for setting switching points, servomotors, and controls with Ethernet and/or digital I/O. The Artemis motor, part of the company’s Servotorq II family, is said to deliver high positional accuracy with smooth, silent motion control. The motors combine precision brushless DC motors, advanced controllers and precision rotary position encoders to create direct-drive positioning systems with outputs up to 3Nm, repeatability of 0.0055 degrees, and no backlash. An upgraded trajectory control results in stiff, fast control loops, enabling precise trajectory tracking. Integration has been simplified by enhancing the motor’s tuning, power protection, debug and diagnostics capabilities. The motors remove the need for magnetic alignment and zero- point calibration, providing near- instant start-up.
