Hallite Seals, a Michelin Group Company, is committed to cultivating a culture of environmental responsibility across all its operations. The company champions innovation that enhances its processes and sets short- and long-term goals to ensure continuous improvement in its environmental performance. This approach supports the group’s efforts to minimise its overall environmental impact. Hallite Seals proudly maintains ISO 14001:2015 certification for effective environmental management, emphasising the reduction, reuse, and recycling of materials, and striving for zero waste to landfill across all its businesses. Reducing the local environmental footprint The Safety & Environmental team at Hallite’s Hampton manufacturing facility and European headquarters has implemented several measures to reduce the local environmental footprint. Here are five key initiatives that have significantly impacted daily business operations and contributed to the company’s sustainability goals by lowering its carbon footprint: Energy-efficient cooling system: Hallite has introduced an energy-efficient cooling system in the Hampton manufacturing plant. This system uses ambient temperatures below 15°C to keep hydraulic oil cool and ensure optimal performance of production tooling. By incorporating a bank of high-efficiency fans to circulate cool air, the facility significantly reduces energy consumption and operational costs. Solar panels: Solar panels contribute to the Hampton facility’s electricity source. This environmentally friendly energy source helps reduce reliance on traditional electricity, generating fully renewable energy. LED lighting technology: An investment in LED lighting technology for the warehouse and offices underscores Hallite’s commitment to energy efficiency. By reducing energy usage through LED technology, the company creates a more sustainable working environment and lowers operational costs. Variant refrigerant volume (VRV) system: The VRV system eliminates the need for natural gas heating and chilled water air conditioning. The new VRV system provides both heating and cooling to the office area, reducing Hallite’s carbon footprint and further reducing electrical energy consumption. Renewable energy contract: A multi-year renewable energy contract has enabled the Hampton facility to transition to a cleaner energy source. This significantly reduces the carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions associated with traditional fossil fuel energy production. By using renewable energy, the facility contributes to a cleaner, more sustainable environment for the future. These carbon reduction initiatives are just a snapshot of Hallite’s continuous efforts to achieve its sustainability goals. Numerous other initiatives and projects are in progress locally and globally, all tying back to the company’s unwavering focus on environmental responsibility and long-term sustainability practices.
