Education and Training The BFPA’s training passport scheme for individuals working in the fluid power industry has now reached its first major milestone, with over 2500 passports having been issued so far and counting. Raising and maintaining high standards through training and education in fluid power is one of the key remits of the Association and it has been producing courses in both hydraulics and pneumatics for over two decades, in conjunction with a national network of BFPA-verified approved training partners. Retrospective issue for those who have completed a BFPA or CETOP course The BFPA training passport card is a durable credit card size and includes a photograph for personal identification and lists the cardholder’s verified training course details on the back. The cards can be issued retrospectively to anyone who has completed a BFPA course completed within the past two years, or a CETOP course. Key benefits Benefits of the BFPA training passport scheme include:  Passport holders will become a member of a national scheme administered and verified by the UK’s national trade body for fluid power (BFPA)  The card will provide a simple and instant way of confirming your identification on site and fluid power training achievements to employers and customers  The training passport will promote and demonstrate the individual’s commitment to safe working practices and high standards in the fluid power industry  The card will show a personal, up to date record of the individual’s training courses and serve as a reminder for when courses need to be renewed in line with continuing professional development guidelines. Increasingly popular initiative Martin Kingsbury, BFPA Membership and Training Director, comments: “We first introduced the training passport back in 2016. Since then, it has continued to prove highly popular with members. The small durable card is an easy and convenient way for trained personnel to quickly confirm their identity and their suitability for the task at hand. We are particularly proud to have issued over 2500 cards to technicians since the scheme was first introduced. The passport scheme supports the Association’s aim of constantly raising standards and promoting safe working practices in the fluid power industry.” More information For more information on the BFPA training passport scheme or how to apply for a card, please contact Martin Kingsbury on martin@bfpa.co.uk , Karen Gordon-Brander on karen@bfpa.co.uk or call the BFPA on 01608 647900.
