Send your people and recruitment news to the editor: chris@aftermarket.co.uk Change at the top for Mirka UK Following a successful 40year career at Mirka UK, Managing Director Craig Daycock is set to retire at the end of 2026. To support a smooth transition, ensure continuity for the UK business, and provide stability for employees, customers, and partners, Phil Sandford (pictured) assumed the interim role of business development director on 1 May 2026, and will take over as managing director in January 2027. For four decades, Craig Daycock has demonstrated exemplary leadership, long-term commitment and unwavering loyalty, playing a pivotal role in shaping Mirka UK into the successful and highly respected organisation it is today. Phil Sandford brings over 20 years of experience at Mirka, with a background spanning operational leadership, business development, financial control and global account management. He joined Mirka on 2 January 2005 as Operations Manager and, in March 2008, was also appointed company secretary in addition to his operational responsibilities. In March 2017, Phil took on the global role of Business Transformation Manager. In January 2023, he became Business Controller for Mirka Benelux, and in January 2024, was promoted to Head of International Key Accounts. His appointment as interim business development director reflects both his deep understanding of the UK business and his strong contribution to Mirka’s international growth. In this role, Phil will focus on continuing to strengthen Mirka’s market position in the UK, supporting the sales organisation in meeting its targets, and developing relationships with key customers and industry partners. Halfords has appointed Iain Hayes as Operations Director within its Commercial Fleet Services (CFS) business. Iain joined the business on 27 April 2026. Iain brings more than 20 years’ experience in the mobile service industry, with a strong track record in operational leadership, customer delivery and building high-performing teams. He has held senior roles at DHL, LOXAM, Sofology and most recently Tructyre. His experience spans leading largescale mobile operations and driving performance in fast-paced, service-led environments, with a focus on safety, accountability and consistently highquality customer outcomes. Chris McShane, Managing Director of Halfords Commercial Fleet Services, said: “Iain brings a wealth of experience in operational leadership and customer delivery. His appointment reflects our continued investment in high-quality service for our commercial fleet customers, and his leadership will be key as we enhance service delivery and support our customers’ evolving needs.” In his new role, Iain will focus on strengthening service delivery across the UK network, improving customer experience and supporting the continued development of a highperforming, engaged team. The appointment underlines Halfords’ focus on long-term growth, operational excellence and strong customer partnerships.
