The show returned to Sandown Park in Surrey on November 11 and 12, with aftermarket thoroughbreds out in force for the 21st annual outing of the event. Industry-leading brands were once again under one roof for a busy programme of free seminars offering technical and business information. Some of the sector’s latest products and tech were showcased in live demonstrations and presentations plus exclusive show offers, competitions and giveaways. This year’s event again gave some of the industry’s leading brands an opportunity to network with independent workshop owners and technicians. Highlights included a seminar by A1 ADAS Solutions, in which MD Iain Molloy also gave an insight into the expanding takeup of calibration across the auto sector. He also urged the industry to be on its guard against unsafe practices, including attempted 360° camera calibrations in car parks and other unsuitable spaces. Advanced automotive chemistry was on display from BG Products and MOT Manager was on hand to show how its garage management systems offer a user-friendly and easy to operate system. There were deals on tuning tools from MET, which says it is fast becoming a powerhouse in the tuning industry. And sustainability was on the agenda too with Oil Recoverings on hand to discuss its range of collection and recycling services for a wide range of materials generated in garages. The firm said it aims to be a one stop shop by taking care of oil, filters, oily rags to name just a few. New this year was a live demo area spotlighting the latest technologies in action on real vehicles and demonstrating how to turn problems into profit. Seminars covered a wide range of topics including Bosch on diagnostics discussion, Rotronics on how to grow revenue and protect your reputation with battery testing. LKQ gave an update on the LKQ Academy and the importance of utilising today’s technology and trends to build tomorrow’s skills. Food for thought as delegates arrived was provided by Think Car, which offered free bacon rolls as the event opened its doors.
