News 8 www.aftermarketonline.net NOVEMBER 2025 Challenge yourself in a Race Across Britain A new independent insurance broker dedicated exclusively to the automotive sector has been launched by the Independent Garage Association. RMI Insurance Services, which is owned by the Retail Motor Industry Federation, has been designed to provide members with direct access to tailored motor trade insurance, removing the need for third-party brokers and ensuring cover is aligned with the needs of the industry. Working in partnership with specialist A-rated insurers, RMI Insurance Services offers a range of exclusive terms and enhanced benefits for members, including access to specialist insurers and independent, expert advice not tied to any one insurer. Exclusive enhancements, higher cover limits and discounted rates are available for members. Stuart James, IGA chief executive, said: “By bringing this service inhouse, we can ensure our members receive expert, independent advice and market-leading terms designed specifically for the motor trade.” Independent used car retailer Motorpoint has opened its newly upgraded flagship site in Derby — a project in partnership with LKQ Euro Car Parts. Motorpoint said the collaboration represented its latest move to bolster inhouse workshop capabilities across its 21 stores and two preparation centres. LKQ is the first-line supplier to Motorpoint’s store network and exclusive training provider to Motorpoint’s technicians through the LKQ Academy. Motorsport said the partnership played a key role in introducing the firm’s MOT servicing, with LKQ supporting DVSA approval, installation, tester training and MOT manager training. Underpinned by a £1.5m investment, the new strategy has seen the business already MOT over 6,000 vehicles in its first year. As part of the partnership, 12 other Motorpoint workshops have also been upgraded. Work is now underway to modernise other sites across the branch network, with the programme expected to finish in early 2026. Teams of two will take on a high-octane journey in February 2026, navigating the route and relying on public transport, walking, cycling and their ability to adapt in the moment. The race is set to be just as frenetic and fun, with no planes, no smartphones and no pre-planning, Ben said. Following the triumphant debut of Race Across Britain in 2024, which raised £100,000, this unique event tests the grit, creativity and teamwork of the automotive industry family and raises vital funds for those who are struggling, or in crisis. With a limited budget for essentials and no checkpoints revealed in advance, it’s a race where ingenuity and resilience count more than speed. Along the way, teams can complete impromptu tasks and challenges to top up their funds. Visit www.ben.org.uk/ RAB26 to find out more and sign up!
