News 10 www.aftermarketonline.net NOVEMBER 2025 New analysis has revealed the importance of automotive manufacturing to the south-east of the UK, with firms in the region delivering an annual economic contribution of £1.3 billion. SMMT’s analysis, published last month, shows the auto sector supports the livelihoods of more than 17,000 – equivalent to one in 11 of all UK automotive manufacturing jobs. Since 2015, £1.4 billion has been invested in the “production hotspot” region, where 750 manufacturing companies are now based, SMMT said. The SMMT represents more than 800 automotive companies in the UK across production, sales, supply chain and the aftermarket. Road Safety GB said on October 28 the rules could be ushered in as part of an expected Road Safety Strategy, following research into the issue on behalf of the Department for Transport. HELLA said modern headlights, particularly LEDs, provide higher light outputs and more focused beams than traditional halogen lamps, making proper alignment more critical than ever. Dave Clark, lighting product and brand manager, said: “While brighter headlights improve road safety by increasing visibility, improper alignment, higher-mounted lamps on SUVs and crossovers, and the intensity of advanced lighting technologies can all contribute to driver discomfort and reduced confidence. “It’s essential to achieve the right balance between illumination and safety.”
