Garage equipment 46 www.aftermarketonline.net SEPTEMBER 2025 MAHA UK managing director Neil Ebbs has been honoured for his years of dedicated service to the Garage Equipment Association during the organisation’s 80th anniversary celebrations. GEA’s CEO, Julian Woods, presented a commemorative plaque to Ebbs during the anniversary event in Birmingham in July. Ebbs, who joined GEA’s board in 2010, became president of the association in 2014 and then treasurer in 2019, has elected to step down from the association. However, he will continue to represent MAHA, protecting the interests of members and the industry as a whole, during council and working group meetings. Woods said Ebbs’ input and wisdom will be missed. “But I am pleased that he will continue to represent MAHA as we push into our ninth decade of representing the garage equipment sector.” During Ebbs’ tenure, the GEA tackled two major industry challenges: the introduction of authorised testing facilities for trucks and proposed, unsuccessful changes to the MOT testing frequency — shifting from the traditional 3-1-1 schedule to a 4-2-2 model, aligning with systems used in several European countries. Ebbs said: “For 80 years, the GEA’s role has been to ensure that its members provide the best equipment and services to the automotive aftermarket. I’m proud to receive this recognition, but it’s the collective dedication of our members that truly defines the GEA’s success. “The GEA remains an invaluable organisation, one that continues to fight for the best interests of the sector, and I am sure it will continue its mission with unwavering commitment.” Hella Gutmann equips Green Flag’s toolkits National breakdown provider Green Flag is enhancing its roadside capabilities by rolling out Hella Gutmann’s new mega macs S 20 diagnostic tool across its owned fleet of patrol vehicles. Compact, powerful and easy to use, the S 20 supports Diagnostics over Internet Protocol, CAN-FD, and offers built-in access to vehicle manufacturer security gateways — crucial for working on today’s cyber-secure vehicles. The S 20 strengthens Green Flag’s ability to keep drivers moving, by helping technicians to diagnose and resolve complex faults at the roadside. Julian Goulding, head of garage equipment at Hella Gutman, said: “It helps maximise first-time fixes and streamlines onward recovery where workshop intervention is required.” Green Flag’s director of customer, roadside and network services, Damon Jowett, said: “Our patrol technicians need to quickly and accurately assess a wide variety of vehicles every day, so having the right diagnostic tools on board is essential to delivering a fast and efficient service.” Launched earlier this year, the mega macs S 20 connects wirelessly via Bluetooth or USB-C to Android devices. To support the deployment, Hella Gutmann delivered a ‘train-the-trainer’ programme, ensuring Green Flag’s technical leads can pass on in-depth knowledge of the system.
