Training 48 www.aftermarketonline.net JUNE 2025 Partnership to expand IMI-backed ADAS training Autotech Training has announced a strategic partnership with TOPDON UK, which will see the nationwide rollout of IMI-accredited ADAS training — delivered directly to the premises of garages and workshops across the country. The move will make Autotech Training one of the only training providers in the UK capable of offering IMI-accredited ADAS training on-site, regardless of whether a business already owns ADAS equipment. Autotech Training said previously, the delivery of ADAS training was limited to its purpose-built headquarters in Milton Keynes, or garages that had the necessary, often bulky, ADAS calibration equipment in place. Under the new partnership, Autotech Training will now be fully equipped with TOPDON’s innovative compact, Phoenix Mobile ADAS units. The rise of ADAS in modern vehicles has revolutionised road safety, with features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring becoming increasingly common. However, as these technologies have become more sophisticated, the aftermarket — and particularly the independent sector — has struggled to keep pace with the knowledge required to service and calibrate these systems correctly. “There’s a growing gap in ADAS knowledge across the aftermarket, and it’s critical that we close it,” said Alistair McCrindle, operations director of Autotech Training. “Technicians need the right skills to ensure that these systems are calibrated correctly. Otherwise, the equipment investments many garages are making risk becoming redundant.” McCrindle said the partnership directly addresses that knowledge gap, offering a unique opportunity for businesses to not only upskill their technicians but also protect the longterm value of their ADAS investments. For garages and workshops, this means they no longer need to transport staff to remote training centres or invest in their own ADAS kit before receiving training. Jack Davis, national sales director for TOPDON UK, said: “The partnership marks a significant step forward — making expert ADAS training more accessible, more flexible, and more relevant than ever. “By empowering technicians with the right skills, it ensures that garages and workshops across the UK can not only meet current repair standards but also play an active role in improving road safety for everyone.” Autotech Training offers IMI accreditation in ADAS and IMI Levels 2 & 3 ADAS training. Autotech Training will now be fully equipped with TOPDON’s innovative compact, Phoenix Mobile ADAS units Ferdotti teams up with Cleevely Motors Ferdotti Motor Services, a leading West Midlands-based garage specialising in fleet vehicle maintenance, is preparing for an increase in the number of EV jobs by investing in hands-on training for its technicians through Cleevely Group’s ‘At Ease With EV’ course. MD Timothy Guidotti has already enrolled six technicians onto the oneday course at Cleevely’s IMI-approved training centre in Cheltenham. With five workshops, 27 staff, and a turnover of £3 million, Ferdotti is starting to see an uptick in EV servicing enquiries. “We’ve recently been approached by a fleet company operating a number of Teslas who are keen to move away from the dealer experience,” Guidotti said. At Ease With EV, held in partnership with Cotswold Diagnostics, is designed for technicians who already hold IMI Level 2, 3, or 4 EV qualifications. Delivered by EV servicing and repairs pioneer, Matt Cleevely, and technical trainer Alistair Finch, the course focuses on real-world scenarios in a nationally-renowned EV workshop, covering battery diagnostics, safety procedures, and manufacturer-specific practices — including Tesla’s service mode. “It’s not just theoretical,” Guidotti said. “Technicians come away with practical experience and real-world context, which helps them see that EVs are not something to be afraid of. It shows them that independent garages absolutely can do this work and do it well.” The next training course takes place on Saturday, June 14. Priced at £295 + VAT per delegate, the one-day course includes lunch, refreshments, and a CPD certificate. Contact Claire at claire@cleevelyev.co.uk to register interest or for more information.
