Clutch and transmission 39 www.aftermarketonline.net NOVEMBER 2024 A new revolutionary modular clutch system from UniClutch is set to transform the Subaru and Mitsubishi Evolution performance clutch market, as the brand announces the release of its pull-type UniClutch Track. Subaru and Mitsubishi enthusiasts will be able to experience the gamechanging UniClutch Track technology as it will now be available in a pull actuation option with the brand’s latest launch. The all-new pull-type UniClutch Track is about to redefine what’s possible for Subaru and Mitsubishi Evolution owners in the clutch game. Julian Patane, brand and product manager at UniClutch, said: “Imagine a clutch that not only handles extreme torque but also provides smooth, near silent shifts and unparalleled durability. Our new dual core UniClutch system delivers all this and more!” UniClutch’s new pull-type UniClutch Track features many benefits including twin disc cerametallic core for up to 1,320nm (newton metres) torque capacity, ideal for high-powered or high load applications offering seamless transition between track and road driving. Plus, it has billet steel components ensuring durability and reduces cover flex for superior disengagement. The brand’s unique silent shift technology helps to improve shift quality while largely eliminating traditional twin plate clutch chatter. Its sprung and cushioned clutch disc provides great driveability to support seamless transition between road and track driving. Additional UniClutch benefits include an integrated flywheel friction surface to eliminate flywheel machining, saving time and money. Plus, the UniClutch Flex Fit Installation offers perfect integration with most vehicles and broadens the scope for gearbox / engine conversion possibilities. And the brand’s track pedal tune feature provides precise control and reduced driver fatigue during extended track sessions. This cutting-edge clutch system is specifically designed for Subaru STI and Mitsubishi Evolution owners who demand the very best from their vehicles. Patane said: “Whether you’re a track day regular or a street performance enthusiast, the UniClutch Track will take your driving experience to the next level.” UniClutch’s new pulltype clutch system will be available from this month and is exclusively distributed by Alliance Automotive Group. Valeo clutch support boost for garages Rising traffic levels continue to put extra strain on vehicle clutch systems, so Valeo is making sure garages have easy access to its self-adjusting technology (SAT) clutch and has also introduced its highefficiency clutch (HEC) kit to assure long-lasting repairs. Average travel times rose in 21 of the 25 UK cities studied as part of TomTom’s Traffic Index report during 2023, with London and Leeds seeing the biggest increases. “More stop-start driving in heavy traffic means greater clutch usage,” said Andy Swann, Valeo division general manager. “This could potentially lead to premature clutch failure on many vehicles.” Technological development is also driving change, with modern cars needing much tougher clutches. “Manufacturers are producing vehicles with higher torque and higher horsepower outputs,” Swann said. “This means it’s imperative that the engine and transmission have the capabilities to deal with the additional load.” The result has been the development and introduction of new friction materials and innovative clutch designs, including the Valeo SAT. “This uses a self-adjusting facing wear compensation device on the pressure plate to enhance the clutch life and improve pedal comfort.” The HEC kit replaces competitors’ old selfadjusting clutch and gives full satisfaction in terms of quality, reliability and durability, Swann said. “Our HEC high resistance generation 5 facings are the best in the market and are well-known for their high durability.” In total, Valeo produces around 75 million friction facings each year. Surprisingly, not all of these friction sets are found in Valeo clutch kits. “As our friction material is best in class, vehicle manufacturers request that other clutch manufacturers use Valeo friction material facings in conjunction with their own clutches,” Swann said. In total around 30% of friction facings produced by Valeo are supplied to and used by other clutch manufacturers. Visit www.valeoservice. co.uk for more information.
