Business & security 47 www.aftermarketonline.net JUNE 2024 Business Comline Group says relocation plans on track Comline said on May 14 its relocation to Bedford Commercial Park is progressing well and on track. The global automotive parts supplier behind the Comline, Motaquip and Allied Nippon brands announced in April it was set to leave its existing base in Luton after more than a decade for a brandnew site at Bedford Commercial Park. Though the journey to its new site may only be 17 miles, the task of relocating its multi-million-pound operation and tens of thousands of product SKUs is a complex and multi-faceted challenge. But Comline said it is meeting these challenges and is due to complete on schedule this summer. One of the most remarkable aspects of the relocation is the space efficiency of the new Comline facility. At 70,000 sq ft, the Bedford Commercial Park site has a smaller footprint than the organisation’s current home at Luton Enterprise Park. However, the modern, high-bay design, coupled with the use of innovative warehousing solutions, has given Comline an impressive 65,000 picking locations — a massive six-fold increase on that of its current facility. The new site is primed to support Comline’s expansive inventory, while its boosted capacity, speed and efficiency will ensure the company enhances service levels to its expanding distribution network, which spans more than 50 countries. Comline MD Ishan Kamdar said: “We are encouraged to see the vision for our new group headquarters taking shape.” The UK’s fastest-growing national motor factor, GSF Car Parts, is holding an inaugural ‘TechFest’ event this month in London. The free event will aim to connect suppliers, showcase the latest technology, and bring together members of the industry from across the country. Led by GSF, in collaboration with over 50 leading suppliers such as Schaeffler, Yuasa, Comma and Delphi, TechFest Garage Technology Festival Wembley will be held on June 13 at Wembley. TechFest will serve as a platform to showcase the latest technological advancements in parts, tools and garage equipment, GSF said. Designed to connect suppliers with independent garages, this event will aim to promote the growth and integration of cutting-edge technology within the automotive sector. TechFest will offer a range of experiences including hands-on product training, live demonstrations, and exploration of new technologies, with exclusive deals on tools and equipment. Complimentary refreshments will be available together with live entertainment. GSF marketing and communications director James Onions said: “TechFest is our way of bringing together our teams, our suppliers and most importantly our garage customers.” Attendance and parking are free, but space is limited. Registration is required and can be completed at a local GSF branch or online: The event is set to start at 4pm in Wembley’s vast enclosed parking area.
